Tell you the truth best combo on the yz I ever found was stock pipe with shorty silencer. It makes it easier to get all out of the bike fatty pipes have alitte bit more top end but as soon as you chop off the throttle it dives. Stock with shorty is a rev machine.

I have a dep and find its great, power curve is very similar to stock (linear) but comes on cleaner with more meat and revs to the moon, probably the only one thats better than stock. They also make a heavy wall version of the exact pipe for 20 bucks more

Okay thanks but what silencer do you recommend the shorty seems to be good or would you get a DEP silencer as well?

Of all the two strokes ive owned my 07 benefited the MOST out of all of them from an aftermarket pipe. I had the pro circuit Works pipe and only when I went up on the mainjet did I notice the gains. I thought it added a ton mid and up, it honestly felt like a completely different bike. I smashed it and while waiting for a new one had to put the stocker back on and it felt like someone put a rag in my airboot. Pipes work on a yz250, simple as that. The shorty silencer does nothing but make it sound better, which is the complete opposite of my yz125's where the pipe does shit and the silencer helps.

I have a pc shorty but sold it before i got the Dep, I kinda agree with 2mattheswide dosent make much diff, except for noise and needs packing more often. The longer silencers I have not used,so cannot comment,I personally would put the money to something else.

+1 on the pro circuit pipe on a YZ250. I was looking for a stock replacement after i smashed the stock pipe but decided to try aftermarket and fitted a Pro Circuit Platinum, also cut the stock silencer down 70mm and it turned into a whole different bike. Screamer up top and runs alot more crisp too, Definitely added alot more power everywhere especially mid and up.

Haha, the picture of the steel pipe is for a 125, thats why they look different. The nickle is less maintenance, but I think the bare steel looks better.
