Yesterday we had a race here in Finland. Me and my little brother raced the B-class (riders over 18 years, bikes any cc or stroke). While walking trough the pits we saw this old Yamaha yz250 standing there, I thought it was just on display by a vendor advertising the historic race class or something, but he was racing the B-class aswell!
My brother and I were on the same qualifying group that he was in, I didnt have the speed to make the top20 of our group to make it to the motos, but my brother was the 20th, so he was the 40th rider to the gate. While waiting for the 1st moto to start, the guy with the YZ rolls up and we find out that he was 10th in our qualifying group! He told my brother that the bike was a 1990 and he bought 2 bikes, a -89 and -90 YZ250 for a 1000€ (pretty much the same as 1000$).
I spent allmost 7000€ for a 2010 RM-Z 450 and got my ass kicked by over 10 seconds by a guy with a 500€ 1990 YZ250!
He did pretty good going 21-17 in the motos, beating half the field with over 20 year old bike!
