Question for Texas members...

Edited Date/Time 5/3/2012 7:10am
Our son is home on leave for accouple weeks and is looking to buy either a street bike or D/S to get around on when he returns to Ft..Bliss. He was told that he should buy something here in Oregon because of bikes being more expensive in Texas. He really does not want to ride the bike back and use up several days of leave. Just wondering if it is possible to find good deals in Texas? Dealer recomendations? He is stationed at FT. Bliss in Elpaso. Thanks'

I have seen were H-Ds are more expensive in El Paso. Barnetts own the only two H-D dealers I know of in the area for about 500 miles. I doubt Japanese bikes are the same way. Someone from the El Paso area can probably jump in here a little later.

I don't think they would be so expensive that savings would justify a trip to Oregon. You should be able to get a fair deal in any of the larger cities in Tx.

There are some really good dealers in TX.

Get on the phone and talk to some dealers. Tell them who the bike is for and I bet you will be surprised.

SMF could help you with this. TX is full of good people that have huge respect for our service men and women.

Las Cruces, New Mexico is an hour North, probably get a great deal. Lots of smaller cities surrounding El Paso.

I'm not sure how it works on road bikes but when I bought my dirt bike, I went to Oklahoma. They were $1,500 cheaper out the door and they don't have a state sales tax. You might check into how the registration laws and whatnot work. Driving from Ok to TX is a log shorter than OR to Tx.
