I've been getting into it. Yeah, the tracks aren't real, the scrub motion stops half way through, and the sounds are terrible, but you can get into some good battles while your learning the game. I've gotten used to the physics, and it has a real sense of having to keep momentum up, line choice that will allow you to carry as much momentum possible is key.

Scrubbing is okay (even tho the boost is lame). Alot of people dismiss it because it's different to what they're used to, but it's fine. If you do it too early and you crash, or scrub too low for the jump, doing it too late doesn't have any scrubbing effect (but will give you that boost when you land). It's cool to play around with, and tbh, it's alot less frustrating than the first ten minutes i spent with each of the godawful latter releases that THQ spat out.

If online is done right, and they implement DLC thoughtfully and successfully, it'll be a fun console pick and up and play game, and the licensed bike and riders are fuggin cool. Alot of people immediately slam it because the tracks aren't replicas, and that it only uses one stick, but i think it's prospects are alot better than what untamed and alive had, and this is only blackbeans first attempt, not it's 238th.

So there's no Hotlap displayed at the end of the race from what i can see, so what is the best TRT you can come up with? Mine is 4:50.**, with a few crashes.

MX SIM nuthuggers need not apply.

PS3, and by the sounds of it the demo isn't out in US, you need to make a euro (or aus) ps3 account to download it.

I did and still can't find it. What's the official name of the demo

There's really not much to it. It's a very simple physics but it takes a while to lose what your used to from mx vs atv. Once you get used to it, and start battling for the lead on extreme difficulty, you can then see how Black Bean came about making the physics like it is.

The MX sim nut huggers are quick to shut it down and boast how good it is to filter through a shitload of bad tracks to fish out the good ones, but this game IS NOT a competitor to mx sim, apples and oranges. It's like comparing rFactor to F1 2011, one is a real deal sim while the other is a pick up and play console game. The actual scrub system is okay, although it ends abruptly and the bike just snaps back straight when you release the scrub button, it leaves a little to be desired from it. I am loving hucking the downhill triple and scrubbing as much as a can, it's a cool view. The sound of the bikes aren't too flash, but doesn't take anything away from the game, they're okay, probably on par with THQ's efforts in that respect.

Terrain deformation is okay at best, but you can only do a 2 minute + 2 lap moto so i'll reserve judgment on how it deforms after a 5-6 lap moto, but ruts didnt seam to help nor hinder from what i could tell.

The 3 major things that will let this game down are that the tracks aren't replicas (although the demo track doesn't have that fantasy feeling that alive had), the boost that occurs after the scrub is plain bad (but i dont think it's as bad as the hand gestures alive had), instead of getting an advantage AFTER the scrub, they should have just let the bike stay lower and faster , that would have been a big enough advtange to scrubbing. The energy drink thing is just corny and a weird inclusion into the game, i did find it handy to use it after i had just crashed, it allows me to get back into speed alot quicker, because once you lose momentum, it takes a few corners to get back to speed.

These 3 cons are still no way any worse than any turd that THQ released, imo. The fact that every rider/bike is licensed is fucking awesome, and the physics do get fun when you start playing the physics for what they are, and not trying to force your Mx VS ATV technique onto it.

Little cool things like slick, cool looking and fast menus shit all over anything THQ had, the soundtrack is also awesome, i muted any soundtrack THQ came out with pretty much straight away, but MUD have done good with this. You can also pick your gate, and there's a proper career and mxdn mode! Major WIN!

What looked like a very promising game for me at the beginning. It fails for me in almost every way in the demo. Hopefully they change a lot in the full game.

They said it would be a realistic game but if you can move left/right while jumping, energy drink boosts, turbo when landing, there is nothing realistic about that.

If they change the decors back to reality and can create the correct surface, it would be still interesting.

Hopefully one day, a game will be created that deserves to be a motocross game!

I'm working on getting back on the bike and at a track again one day, i sold my van to buy the missus a 150r, and we pick up a ute in 2 weeks. Did you race easter? I didn't even get there to watch! First time in years.

Dam I was looking for a Van to! Though on hold for awhile as we extend the house for the extended family!

Yeah was up there for Easter , camped at the track, was expecting to see you out there but no sign of you. Good racing but a bit of a shitty year to be a clubman, only 18 Clubman Lites entered and 13 of them were B graders , and only 12 in the Clubman Open again majority were B graders.

Not sure what the Go was, normally packed for the Clubman Class, didnt even have to qualify for the Clubman feature! Great event as always though and was home in Adelaide by 6pm after watching presentation.

Get yourself sorted and come out and race the state title at Crystal Brook,

Back to MUD, can you play online yet ? Ill jump on in a few minutes and download it.

I watched maybe 1 race of the juniors on saturday and then went to wallaroo for the weekend, it's been the same shit, different year, for the past 5+ years. If you had of told me that was the exact same track from 3 years ago i would have believed you. Iduno, it's getting pretty stale though, hopefully they can change it up for next years easter.

Yeah i won't be doing any state titles, lol, i havn't ridden since sept. last year, probably just stick to practice days and club days for this year on the 200.

Na no online, it's a really short demo, and the track is pretty shit compared to some of the videos they've released of other tracks. It'll be okay for a pick and up and play, but don't expect anything groundbreaking.

The demo absolutely blows, you cant even move the analog sticks to scrub or whip, you hold x (a) and it automatically does it. I'm not going to lie, it feels like a 10 year olds game with tracks set in child-like fantasy worlds full of waterfalls, canyons and the rest of the lame stuff. Save your money, it looks like its going to be another long wait until a decent mx game for consoles...

Game is a good fun GAME, certainly no type of simulation. Decent competiton at the highest level, looking forward to the full game coming out and playing it.

If it runs well online and the racing is close that is all I care about, bit of fun out of a Mx GAME

Just got done with the demo...

Cons -

What is the point, I mean what is the bleeding point in going to all the trouble of securing track licenses in your game, if you're not going to bother with them anyway?! It's just bonkers, I can't make head or tail of it. The non MX people wouldn't know the real Glen Helen from Adam anyway, whereas anyone who is an MX person will know right away what Glen Helen should be like. How cool would it have been if GH really felt like GH, including the other 12 tracks in the listing for when the full game comes out? Very cool is the answer.

Scrub button is nonsense. It took me a couple of laps to realise that I had no control in the direction of my scrub. You hold in one button and then let go of that button. I hope they change that for the full game. (Edited: My original opinion on the scrub button is wrong. You are in fact able to control your scrub direction).

Pros -

AI is very good. Iv'e only done a handful of races but so far I can't beat them, they're really quick imo. Nice job there.

I love the bike decals and rider gear, they look just like the real people. Absolutely superb job here!

Nice graphics in general to.

Notes -

All in all a mixed bag but I don't hate it. I'll still buy it when it comes out. I'm not mad about the physics as it's a little too floaty for me but certainly not awful. The main skill of the game seems to be through picking good lines and so carrying your momentum (and staying on track over the jumps). In a way it's more like a road race game but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The only thing that really pisses me off is the tracks - I think they're going to be a squandered opportunity. Other than that it's OK.

For those in AUS, the game has been out since the 26th of April. You can get it from here

www.triggahappi.com.au/

I spoke to the guy there and he said they sold out very quickly, and that they're getting another shipment in next week.
