For mx fans on Oahu in Hawaii

The first ever Loretta Lynns Qualifier is this weekend up at Kahuku. Troy Lee is a big sponsor of the event, and is flying out to do a promotional thing on Friday at Cycle City on Nimitz Highway, and they are giving away some pretty cool prizes. The commercial on the radio says he is racing as well on Saturday. Sounds pretty cool. I was hoping to go watch, but my trip to Afghanistan will prevent me from doing so. Seems like my timing for MX events is the worst!!! I was in Indy last year for the SX race, but flew out the afternoon of the race. Did get a cool meet and greet with KTM and JDR KTM though!!!

Schaefer Tracks has been building this track for the last 2 weeks, even with the heavy rains.

My name is Trevor Pearson. I'm from Canada and vacationing Oahu now (March 15-18th). I ride for Team Green in Canada and have dreamt of racing in Hawaii. There's a Loretta Qualifier here on the weekend and I am wondering if "anyone" can help me "rent/borrow" a bike for Saturday. I'm 14yrs old, and ride MX-2 C division (Junior in Canada)
Please check out our Videos on our YouTube channel "BCTeamGreen". I'm not looking to go for a "dirt bike" ride, I want to race. If your going to the event and have a practice bike, or are riding in a "non-conflict" class, It would be HUGE if you could help out. I would be more than happy to return the favor in Canada with full gear and a race prep bike if you show up North of the Equator!
Please email me at cncpearson@telus,net or send us a message on our YouTube Channels or Facebook my Dad (Chris Pearson - works for Ducati - lives in Winfield)
For all you MX'rs out there that understand the opportunity to be able to race in a Loretta's Qualifer, you must understand what it would be like for a Canadian to be this close to the "Holy Grail" and NOT have a chance or at least make the effort.
Any help would be appreciated.

You should try contacting some of the dealers here, and see if they will rent a used a bike or have any connections.

Good old Oahu, was there in Kaneohoe and Pearl back in 2004 on RIMPAC Exercise!!

What an AWESOME event!! First of all, the track is EPIC. The jump faces are "perfection", the soil is tacky, and the MX Community on Oahu are some of the greatest people around. The Danao family lent us their practice KX250F, made us lunch, and made sure that everyone was introduced to the Family from Canada.

These people are the reason "why" we MOTO.

It doesn't matter what side of the planet your from, if you ride... your part of the family.

Great event, great time, and perfect end to our Holiday!

Thanks Kahuku, we felt like we were your "Ohana"!

Trevor raced on Saturday but had to fly him on Sunday. Racing 1 class - 2 Motos, he got 2x Holeshots, and 2x 3rd place finishes.

It was a new track, against new riders, on a different bike... so we were very happy with the results.

Being "in Hawaii" is Awesome... to be able to ride in Hawaii, even better... to be able to race, and race a Loretta Qualifier... Truly Priceless!

Maui Motocross is a cool facility, too. (a bit windy sometimes)
I spectated in Feb for the "State" race.

I'd expect that from a guy who wears Hawaiian shirts everywhere. Wink
