RM250 hard clutch pull

Have any of you guys used any good perch setups to ease clutch pull? I'm in the process of putting back together the 05 RM I just bought and the thing has a really stiff and springy clutch pull. I remember I used to have this same issue back when I had an 03. The bike is like new so everything else is fine and I also don't want to drop the coin on a hydro. Any tips? Thanks.

If it is the OEM clutch, it is going to basket creep you right into the gate as soon as you rev it anyway. So, I replaced mine with a Moose offroad steel basket clutch kit and it was perfect for me, no basket creep. OEM Suzuki two strokes basket creep right off the showroom floor.

Good bike, take care of it, it'll cut a line inside anything, other than maybe am RM125 from the same year.

Another thing to do is lube the clutch cable. it makes a big difference in the feel. I also ran honda perchs since there lever ratio is different. Thats what the aftermarket first designed theirs after.

I haven't opened them up yet. The bike is like new, bought it from a guy who rode it a couple times in the desert. It's the lever ratio that's the problem and it seems like all rm's from that time had the hard pull. I know ill have to replace the basket as those stock ones are junk. I just wondered if someone had any luck with any aftermarket perches.

Moose just came out with a new lever perch combo with a few different positions for the cable depending on what pull you'd prefer. Also just going to a Honda lever and perch will help a lot. Like AJ said that is what the aftermarkets copy

First check the clutch, metal and fiber plates, then make sure the push rod is straight and clean, then check the actuator arm for binding or rubbing. Then install a motion pro clutch cable . I did this and my 03 RM feels like butter and works great. I think the new cable made the biggest difference. Then mess with the lever, I use an MSR quick adjust. Like Butter....

Check back in after you open her up, all these bolt on bling guys might be singing a different tune. None of that stuff will do crap if you have plates hanging on grooves.

I have always used the MSR Raptor shorty on my '05 RM250. Works great, three adjustments.
