On laps 13, 14 and 15, DM gained about 8 sec. on James while James was in his
prevent defense. Then on the final lap, Milsaps added 7.5 sec. to his lap time. James won by 7.5 sec.

It would've been fun to see the JGR battle at the end.
The broadcast didn't show what happened to DM.

Maybe he didn't know he was that close and on the last lap went into cruise mode?

James rolled nearly every jump on the last two laps. So much so that I thought that his bike might be having problems. Mild aps would never have caught and passed him.

I think Reed was right, James is out of shape and had nothing left at the end. The Gibbs team made Milsaps slow down so he wouldn't make Stewart look bad.

That is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. James was slowind down so as not to throw the race away when he knew he had the win.

Maybe he was just trying to close the gap for a cool team JGR 1-2 finish line photo.

suddenly, all is right at the jgr compound.

Great effort by all involved and that photo is epic. Kinda makes the nats look promising on those evil yz's.

I missed the "slow down and let Bubba win" message on the pit board. Or was it an electronically controlled power inhibitor on Millsaps bike that is controlled by Coy from the sidelines that Millsaps doesn't know about?Wink

I was watching the gap between Windham and Milsaps the whole race. They didn't show much of Windham but judging by their lap times, it seemed like they were swapping mistakes. One lap the gap would be :03 and another lap it would be :15 and then Windham would close it back up.

If that was the case it would have been addressed after A1......and James's fitness after 11 rounds, injury free would be peaking right now while those that came in uber fit, might be have their peak falling.

It's been a shit year for James......but until we see him and RV go head to head we will never know.

Unfortunately with the points the way they are there is no way we can see rv give it his all until Vegas and then we will be back to the hard pack slick fast track discussion.

Oh yeah and that pic is a great one.....because it show's what James is now dealing with.....the riders are letting rv go......and fighting james for it.

Brayton windham alessi millsaps tedesco all seem to give in to the inevitable when rv get's close.....with james they seem to look to me lime they want him to prove it to them.

James goes to the line with the chance to tie RC at 45 wins in Indy. 2nd all time.

And I think we can see him string sme wins together. I'd certainly like him to make himself the goal to win more rounds than RV......so he can go in to 13 with the winningest race winner mental support and time to re tool.

Over the next six rounds anythng other than wins point to done or need a new bike.

He has to know RV wont ride in front of him .......but will sit on his wheel waiting to pass on lap 19

James has to either be able to stretch it or deal with the fact that RV is the man.

The track last night was a tuff one..it took more energy out of the rider..James looked spent.

My take on it is that if it would have been 20 laps..JGR would have still won but #18 would have checkerd first.

Laughing I thought the bike was checking out also with how careful he was riding the last two laps. I think it was smart to back it down once he had a 19 second lead though. Great night for JGR.

Just how far some of you go to discredit James is ridiculous. Have you ever raced in the mud? It is so much more demanding than normal conditions. So James wins convincingly in the toughest conditions of the year, and this is evidence of him being out of shape? WTF!? Yeah maybe he looked a little tired, he just won a muddy Daytona! That takes some serious stamina. It's almost like Orwellian double- speak out of some of you.

I noticed that JS7 and DM18 bikes were smoking a lot near the end. I though for sure one or both were going to give up the ghost.

In the 250 main, I believe it was Durham's bike was smoking like crazy when he was pulling off.
