Damn that's bad!! Good luck with the surgery and getting the foot closed up and back to "normal".

Watching the broadcast, I didn't like the way the bridge create a chicane in the track. Saw a few riders almost clip the wall coming out. Could have been a smoother path through there.

So if I am reading this correctly, your foot tore open not from a tradition cut or compound fracture but from impact alone? Dude, that is unbelievably nasty. I hope you have a speedy recovery and back to form quickly. Good luck.

Kyle said it got pinched by the frame but I think it had to be the foot peg and the wall. The wound looks jagged like the peg. Unsure

Don't know who has actually looked at the Fox details of their new boot, but there is a "patented" steel shank embedded in the sole, maybe that had something to do with it....

Your exactly right about the "pop" Ive seen 2 such injuries, but both in the thigh area, Its just like squeezing an orange. The force of the impact causes the split. I honestly dont think any type of boot could have prevented that.

Right. In something like that (impact between a solid heavy object, and an immovable object), I don't think the brand of boot matters a whole lot.

Mike, I think you'd find that in lots of boots. Its purpose is to provide support so your foot doesn't wrap around your peg after a hard landing, like a bird's does on a perch.

If you look at this picture is this thread, it looks like his boot is crushed in. Pretty much confirms it is from a lateral crush of the boot, something they likely aren't designed to handle.

Hopefully Kyle has a smooth recovery from all his injury. Never like seeing things like that happen.

I wonder if by chance (idk if there was a hole in boot) but when he is saying it got crushed between frame and wall of bridge maybe it actually got squished between footpeg and wall and the sharp footpeg (pros are like razors) tore through the boot and sliced his foot..... makes the most sense to me but idk.... just a freak accident apparently!!
