Anyone that's been...I know that the pits are free and then they have the trackside upgrade that's $15. During practice can anyone watch from the trackside area or is that trackside upgrade in effect then as well? I don't really want to watch the race from trackside, but would like to get down there for practice without paying the extra $.

I go every year and I seem to remember that they'll let you watch practice from the trackside area. If not, you can go up the little flight of stairs and stand directly behind the fence. It's actually a bit better there because you're higher. Have fun. Daytona is unlike any other event.

I've been a dozen times and I've done the trackside thing only once. Didn't like it all. Field of view is so limited.

I love Daytona! You don't get the Opening Ceremonies that regular rounds of SX has, but the racing and the track is fantastic. Also, there usually isn't a great battle for the lead at Daytona because the track is so long.....but it's still the best one to attend.

I know it's not possible with where the track is and the other races going on during the week, but how cool would it be to have the track run up and down one of the turn banks (think pontiac into the stands)? If you've never been, those banks are pretty steep... I think it would make a great up and down section.

what's the deal with seats in the Sprint tower? I was trying to see about some on the bottom row of the tower.

Since the OPs question has been answered anyone else have any general tips for Daytona? This will be my first year going to a SX, been to nationals so I kinda know the deal.

If they can clean up a jet fuel fire and tide in two hours, I'm sure they can get plywood covered with dirt off the track in a week...

Make sure that you get on the track AFTER the race. Not only do you get to check it out, but you can watch the podium up close (sort of) AND beat most of the traffic. Last year we checked out Stewarts wall jump. Shit was insane.
