That photo from Desoto brings back memories. The time was maybe 1967, we traveled from N.Y. to Elkton, Maryland for the North/South TT championships. Here's the comparison to a time at Desoto. The race was 25 laps, format start 125's then 2min. later 250's 2min. then open bikes. As i remember the best scrambler and TT riders showed up. But the star was Eddie Varnes, does anyone remember him?
Fast forward to Desoto, around the middle1970's. It was a pro-money race, same race format. The star that day was hotshoe Glenn Hubbel.
I started on a 125, then I crashed, so like all motocrosser i continued trying to finish. Here comes the leader Glenn Hubbel, lapping me, the track had plenty of room for passing, but he came right alongside me and tried to kick me!
So later at the awards, when they presented him his trophy, I stepped up and decked him! I don't know if he ever tried to kick anyone ever again, but I made my point! Was anyone there?
