Ummmmm, they are black........duh.Shocked You act like I'm afraid to say that. You seem bo be implying that they are the only reason that I'm involved with this sport or like I don't like any other riders. Neither one of those notions is correct. I took the wife to see RC in Atlanta the first year he turned Pro and hoped that he won too. If a woman became one of the best riders in the sport would you be asking a woman racer why she was so high on seeing a woman win???

My son was three or four when we took him to his first SX. It was at the Astrodome. By the main event, he was asleep with his head on one steel armrest and his feet on the other, about ten rows above the whoops. He went to Houston and Dallas every year. When he was six we took him to his first NFL game. He walked through the opening to the seats, looked at the field, and asked "where is the dirt?" Got to start them young to raise them right!

BTW, did I forget to mention that James is the best pure rider that I've ever seen ride a motocross bike and I think that he can win at any time if he really puts his mind to it, bad bike setup and all. Also, from what I saw Saturday Malcolm has the speed to win this weekend. That's just MHO.

I took my son to his first race two years ago. We went to Unadilla. CP377 crashed in the first moto then came back and won the second. It was totally incredible to watch him ride. We walked the pits, got autographs ... it was awesome. We'll be going to Unadilla this year and I can't for him to see RV, JS, RD race this summer.

Have fun!

I just don't understand racism, I guess. I could care less about skin color (or nationality, or gender for that matter). And, the last thing I'd want is to behave that way, in fear my son would pick up on it and end up thinking it really matters (which it doesn't).

Regardless, have fun with your son. I'm sure he'll enjoy it. I've taken my son to numerous races since he was about 3, and I think I enjoyed his presence more than he enjoyed the races.

I was wondering if you were absent the day they taught the diversity course at work Grinning I'm not busting your balls here, but it's clear you don't have any empathy for the minority experience. But just to be clear, a black guy wanting to see a black guy do well in a majority white sport isn't racism, just as a woman wanting to see another woman do well in a male-dominated industry isn't sexism.

I can understand totally what you're saying and don't see a problem with it. I do wonder what the comments would be like if I said I wanted a white guy to beat Stewart just because he's white... I don't think that would fly.

And before any knuckleheads comment, I certainly DO NOT feel that way. I am an RV fan, and want to see him battle with, and beat Stewart, only because he has been considered the best in the past, and to be the best you've got to beat the best. Unfortunately, that battle hasn't materialized yet.

Considering what you're wondering, I'm not so sure you totally understand what I'm saying. Further, I'm not sure I'm capable of explaining it to you in this forum.

It would probably fly if you said that you wanted Eminem to be the best rapper in the world though because he is white. Just saying.

Either way, I didn't say that I wanted him to beat this guy or that guy, I would just like to see him win. Nothing against any other rider. Motocross has been my favorite sport since the mid '70's and up until I saw James race I never thought that I would see a black racer at the top of the Pro ranks (I'm from the South so the race element of the sport has always been and issue) until I saw James race. No different than someone from Europe rooting for a rider that comes to the US to race. There is a common thread to a degree. Too bad that you can't understand that.

I'm going to watch the guys on motorcycles race around the track. Some are white. Some are black. It doesn't matter to me which is which. I wish more often it didn't matter to everyone else.

Of course, when it gets brought up, it draws battle lines, and that kind of sucks.

Guyb, I can't ignore my life experience. The way you look at it is like saying that Obama being elected President wasn't a historic moment and that Black people shouldn't want to see him do well. I don't see a problem with me wanting to see a black rider do well or a woman wanting to see another woman do well or deaf people wanting to see Ashley Fiolek do well, or whatever. That doesn't mean that they have a dislike for any other group with different backgrounds or characteristics. No one says shit if I say that I'd like to see Austin Stroupe do well because he is from NC or if someone says that they want to see a kid from TX do well.

Ok. You seem to get my analogy, but you're drawing a conclusion that feminism = anti-male. Is that your position?

By the way, this is getting way off topic. We can have this conversation privately if you want to keep it going.
