the new mxa 250 dyno shootout included the 150sx and 250sx. I am surprised at 11,000 the 150 made more hp than all the 4 strokes and the ktm 250 sx.

Thats because a 250SX peaks at around 9500 or so. All 2 strokes fall on their face at a certain rpm. They keep revving but make no power.

The 250sx makes the most power until 10,000. The 150sx from 10-11,000 and the kx250f from 12 up.

Which really means nothing because you don't ride a 250 two stroke at 10,000 + rpm. It's all apples to oranges.

The 250sx makes 49hp
the 150 makes 32 (ish)
the 250f makes 34hp

You are close Terry but the KX and the 150 both make 38 with the KX having a little more peak. The other 250's make 34-36. The 150 has a very short sweet spot at only 2000 rpm's. What is crazy is the 2011 without the linkage made 40 hp. I agree with you on the 10,000 thing for the 250 sx.

I was just guessing what the 150 made for the sake of argument.

And at one point in time (2011 IIRC) the 150 was pumping out over 40 HP.

The reason the 2012 150 and 250sx don't make as much hosrepowe as the past models has to do with the airboot. When they added a link to the shock it doesn't get a straight shot which makes it have less airflow. You can read the 2012 test on the 250sx and 150sx on the MXA website and it mentions it.

If you created radiuos in the intake you would also increase air velicity. Next time your bike is on a dyno put a air boot that has a direct 90 degree turn and your number will go up. This requires not having the subframes on for most bikes.
