For sure. I don't get as many days to ride as I would like, but we could try to get together sometime. have you ever ridden @ Gillette or Belle Fourche? Both of those tracks have open ride days, or we could go woods riding somewhere. Upton, maybe?

Well, good on him. He looks like his heart is into it, and that's what's important. It's awesome when a young person finds their love and way early. More power to your boy. Job well done, too! My son, still a junior in high school, just started working at one of our local hospitals shadowing a trauma surgeon (which is what he wants to become). So, I'll be back here with my hand out to help with those $400K medical tuition bills...lol....
I missed this yesterday for some reason. What your kid is doing is awesome, jt! That is really going to help your kid decide if that is truly what he wants to do. Good luck with him.

My kid used to ride Belle all the time back when he still raced up in those parts. And there is a private track just west of Upton to ride also. I just got my CR250 last month and I haven't even been home long enough to see the thing but my wife and friends tell me it is pretty sweet.

That Upton track is Brett Bruce's, right? Really sandy dirt with a bunch of slate/bentonite in it-but Brett and his kids are riding still, so I bet he takes care of it. If we can work it out, i can give him a call and see if we can ride there.

Thanks all you guys!!!

Yes Brett and his kids still ride it all the time, we laugh at the races cause someone says Brett and both of us turn around. My son is just a little older than his oldest one but it should be no problem we used to go there quite a bit and ride. Oh and BTW Brett is still fast as shit on a dirtbike for sure!!!!

If you used to race at any of the SD races I am sure I have seen you around before. We started just hitting races down in CO and TX for a little better competition.

I saw Brett at the Sturgis Rally race this summer, he looks like he's having fun helping his kids (I think his son has a Cobra ride and has been to LL the last year or two?). He was always fast, he and his folks have always been super nice.

I raced the old BRA races way back in the early 80's, then moved for college. When I came back, I raced HPMA for several years until the SD tracks started their own series. I know a lot of the WY guys, I am certain we've met before, you may have raced some of the races I put on in Deadwood, Deer Mountain or at the Rapid City fairgrounds-my name is Jeff Barthel.

I don't ride or race nearly as often as I would like, no time. I have a few vintage bikes I like to ride, but I have to go to CO to race them. Are you and your kids racing, or just your kids racing w/you as "team manager"?

My son races in the 85's and Supermini and we mainly have been doing RMXA in CO. You usually won't see me at too many races I hardly get to make it, but I am sure you have seen my wife the crazy blonde lady. I am going to try and hit a few races this year finally after never racing before in my life. We have only done the Rapid fairgrounds race once when Todd McPherson put it on. Oh and BTW I am Brett Lee.

Brett, you HAVE to do the Rally race in Sturgis! It is really fun w/a lot of vets from all over the country. You would have a good time, it's an easy, fun, and safe track.

fcr, I will put up a post next week and let you guys know how he did-thanks again!

We have done the rally in the past with my son, he has won his class a few times there on 65's and such. We just decided to do races elsewhere in the states and see some other parts of the country. If I am off I will try and do it this year for sure I love going there and seeing old friends from the SDMA.
