Tim Crytser (RacerX Virtual Trainer) and Coach Seiji have come up with an awesome test that provides a fitness benchmark for moto heads. It is kinda like the NFL combine. There really isn't a a set rep range or time you have to reach. They just came out with it this week and we are trying to get as many people to take this test. The more data, the better we can tweak this and it could eventually show us how to train more efficiently/effectively for moto. Plus you can take the test now, train and take it again to see how well you improved.
With that being said, head over the site, take the test and put your results in the comments section. It doesn't matter if you are a Vet, D rider or Pro...just do it!!!!

$189.95 - $239.95
Quick example: take 2 riders....rider A and rider B
Rider A does the rower test and pumps out 300 watts in 1000 meters.
Rider B only puts out 250 watts in 1000 meters.
Who is going to have more "endurance"? Rider A because more than likely his VO2 max is much higher than Rider B. VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygen your body uptakes. Therefore, since Rider A can consume more oxygen than Rider B, Rider A has a better aerobic base. Better aerobic capacity = more cardiovascular endurance.
I assume this is what you mean?
I will just agree to disagree and leave it at that.
Mostly running.
But they gave a way to keep track of where you were.
Take a milk crate, turn it on it's bottom up, so you can step up on it.
Alternating legs, step up and down at a steady pace for 1 minute, try keeping 1 step per second.
Measure your heartbeat.
Seems to me 100 beats a minute was a good number to shoot for after the minute on the crate.
Another good one is the Marines training manual, same kind of stuff, they even show a chart allowing for age.
It all comes down to running 3 miles in 25 minutes without geezing all over the place.
pull-ups 0 (fell off bar after 3 seconds)
push-ups 6 (pulled muscled in shoulder)
sit-ups 12 (crapped his pants and gave up)
Pulls ups , 12
sit ups, 65
push ups, 60.
I'm working pushups a lot these days though. Shooting for 100.
Some of the BEST trainers in the business have written articles and given suggestions on the forum. Cant go wrong with that.
Tim and Crew have a great thing going.
I'll be 40 this year and feel I'm in better shape now than when I was in my 20's because of what I have learned on that site. And not just moto shape either.
Cycling, Running, Swimming, playing tag with my kids.. anything. I'm ready for it.
