I had made a post in reference to personal positive feedback at a couple SX's this year regarding industry seating (on a subject that was in the dungeon). I thought I would move it here where more people can read it. It is informative, so some of you may want to bypass it.Wink

Holeshot wrote:: I went to the 1st couple SX's this year, and was very satisfied with how the riders were treated along with their families. The passes purchased by the rider from the AMA for their friends and family did certainly gain much easier and better access.

Someone else wrote:That kind of goes against what others with family members racing have said about the subject.

Holeshot wrote: To start...people love to complain, but rarely compliment when things go well. A forum is a perfect place to bitch, because they are in good company for a great bitchfest with limited background information on the subject (most of time).

Here is what I perceived as the reason why they were unsatisfied at the SX events. Racers are able to purchase industry seating passes from the AMA for $40 a piece. They must place the name of who the pass is for, and that individual can pick them up at AMA will call after presenting a form of ID. These passes are in form of a wristbrace. They will allow you in the pits at anytime, but you still have to wait until 12:30 PM to enter the stadium.

The next part of this equation I am not exactly sure because they may have changed from past years. But here we go: Teams get complimentary TICKET passes or STICKERS which go onto a general admission ticket stub(which you purchase-but they are much cheaper than assigned seating) giving them access to the pit and industry seating. Those tickets(or stamps were free-unless your buddy charged you), and while they would gain you access to the pit area you had to wait in line with the masses. I saw a line with approximately 500-1000 people most of the day at Anaheim and they are funneled into the pit area which would take probably at least 20 minutes to get into the pit. GUESTS with wristbands were able to bypass these lines with a separate NO WAIT access way into the pit.

So once again some who got something for FREE is bitching. LESSON: If it is FREE it is probably lacking something.

Can you imagine how many calls and emails the Feld ticket people get? Wow, I don't want that job!

Just to clarify, Feld does issue assigned seating tickets with the applied sticker. The sticker is for pit access and the Feld personel apply them to the admission ticket at the promoter will call booth. And yes, you must show photo ID to receive any ticket or sticker.

My only issue is Security not knowing who and where people are allowed to go. and the answer of I don't know but not here or walk all the way around the stadium only to get told I don't know but not here.

They routed everyone away from the usual door at Phoenix until I finally found a boss and asked him why, He promptly corrected the problem and it went smooth the rest of the night. Happens almost every year.

There just seems to be a communication problem and constant misunderstanding between Feld and Security that is topped off with Security having a chip on it's shoulder , gets frustrating.

Different security officers every weekend, different requirements from the buildings, sometimes unions, sometimes lazy security workers, and a lot of doors to secure!

I've been there done that. The ticket requests are endless in SoCal, I couldn't wait to leave the area because I would have to say no to deserving people just because everyone wanted to be there. lol

Will Call on race day was always crazy! Sondra kept everything in shape for me back then, but it was always challenging to deal with it every weekend....She knows as well as anyone!!

last time we had industry seating at Vegas, we got to our seating area and it was so packed that there was only standing room left. most of the people in there didn't even have tickets to that area, but security did nothing about it. we got to go to the middle of the stadium, as high as it gets, and find some open seats. awesome.

To be fair

There is probably 3 times the people with stickers and hard cards as there are industry seats, You have 2 options get there real early or stand.

yup, this has happened at indy. we had wrist bands but there were no seats left because of all the people with tickets with stickers. security saids, i dont care you need to find your seats. then continue to say, i dont have a seat in the stadium because i have a wrist band. they dont have that worked out very well at all.

Yes that does get troublesome. Most times I buy tickets and just use the stickers for Pit access that way I am sure I have a place to sit.

You definitely want to get your seats around 6pm, especially if you have a group that wants to sit together. It seems they have expanded industry seating these last few years, but there are still not enough seats to go around at race time. Like someone mentioned..wristbands do not take precedence over tickets with stickers for seating.

I was sitting in industry seating and 4 people came in and sat down in front of me. Then 3 of the people gave their tickets to the other person and he left and brought in 3 more people with the same tickets. And then they did it again..LOL... So they bought 4 tickets and had 10 people sitting in industry seating when 6 of them just bought the cheap seats and got to sit in industry seating.

In my experience, the industry seating does not provide the best point of view. It's intended to be close to the pits and starting gate/staging area. You can usually see more of the track from the 'cheap seats'.

I had the tickets with the sticker on it for Doyers Stadium, (not to name drop, but thanks DC) and had just a minor problem getting into the pits, but it was resolved pretty quickly. Seems the gal runing the entrance thought there was another entrance for stickerd tix and wristbands. Patience goes a long way. Security supervisiors seem to know whats up most of the time.

I liked the way the pits were set up in LA. Security was more relaxed than at Anaheim.

Great people a private restroom and the ability to watch the NFL playoffs in between practice sessions.

Sign me up again for next year! We loved the whole trip except BK of course.
