Ladies and Gentlemen:
Here is the bottom line as to why the WMX is good for MX as a whole.

For every motocross bike that is sold in the US and the world,a woman is responsible for 50% of the decision to buy that bike. I'm not talking about 50% of bike sales i am talking about 50% of 100% of Every bike sold. If dad wants to buy little johnny or janie a bike; Mom has the final say so if it is bought. If husband wants to buy a bike,Wifey has to say yes in order to get it. If boyfriend wants a bike, girlfriend has a say so in it. If you diehard,CORE motomen want to go see a National then you have to get permission from the wife to go. If the women are out there racing then they will have a vested interest in letting you go,and will appreciate the fact that they have something to relate to. They may even let their daughters join in the fun. If they can enjoy it for their own reasons then it makes for a better home life away from the track for us all.
We men have to face reality, the women in your lives control the pocketbook. Whether you admit it or not,its true.
If you cut through all the BS at the end of the day,if you involve the women in the sport it makes it better for the sport as a whole.
Motocross is a business, and has to be treated as such. In order for the sport to survive it has to grow. If you want the Nationals to be aorund 5 years from now then you have to grow it,or it will wither and die.
Why would you want to insult and alienate a possible 50% increase in growth for the sport? You guys need to think about the big picture, and think about the health and expansion of our beloved sport.

My wife rides which is good for me because it means I can spend whatever I want on the bikes. However, it wasn't because of WMX that she likes riding and she certainly isn't interested in watching it. I think women are used to not seeing women sports, I mean the headline of any sport is the males class, some sports don't even have a women's class. Why should mx be any different

Chump6784..i think that its great that your wife is already here in MX. Keeping the WMX is about reaching out to even more women and bringing them into the fold. The MX community is so small that we need all the potential fans and participants that we can get. The stick and ball sports fan base is hugh,so i think the women in those are somewhat irrelevant. There are more than enough men to keep those sports healthy and growing. You can be an athlete or a couch potato and have easy access to enjoy them.
Anybody can go to Wal-mart and buy a football, basketball or a baseball glove and go out in the yard and play. Women don't complain too much when hubby spend $20 to go bowling or wastes a couple hrs playing golf or basketball with his buddies.
To get into Moto you have got to be willing the put up the big bucks to enjoy it,thats why i believe we need the women on our side. If they are with us,they can't be against us..

I knew MX guys hated girls, but damn, this thread took it to a whole new level.

I bet these same A-holes that hate women's MX racing are the same jerkoffs going around saying how gay marriage should be illegal. Point is, why do you care if there is women's racing or not, there is not a gun to your head to watch it during race weekend, during the 15 minutes they are racing you polish your gun rack or play with your nuts.

Ed. Note: Keep in mind the two moto format for the WMX is just in early discussion stages and nothing is set in stone, but according to Patterson it is very likely the changes will be made. Regardless of which way it goes, Jessica urged that she, along with many other top WMX contenders, were content with the current ruling of the one moto format simply for the benefits the women would recieve on raceday as far as placement and media coverage are concerned. Many people were quick to jump the gun and bash the decision of MX Sports, but most forget they own WMX and do everything in their power to help further that brand and the racing that comes along with it. I personally see Women's Motocross as a very strong asset in the professional community, and I can only see it getting stronger with the guidance of MX Sports and the athletes that stand behind them.
