rider turnouts were huge everywhere then. 500+ was norm for all the good tracks.
Laurie is still looking.
And I contacted Chuck Sun croom and he hadn't seen him in quite a number of years.
I'll drop a nickel in your jar....
When I first started racing in 75-76 he was racing for Kawasaki City, and Sun and Burgett had both moved on, so he was the top dog. The shop had a policy on trickness, and one result was the twin induction KX125 (a reed valve setup was added to the rear of the cylinder, while retaining the stock rotary valve). It was the only KX125 in 75-76 that went fast around here. And Gregson was quite a star. He'd dramatically jump out of the back of the shop cube van in his green uniform with a pair of big white sunglasses and go run practice in them. Rooster tails and smiles.
You might try calling Kevin Jansen at Beaverton Honda/Yamaha/whatever and see if he knows how to find him.
Scott
Thanks again Scott.
Just for the record, "you and Mark were at Kawi City" isn't correct.
I was a struggling junior on a year old Yamaha when Gregson was running Green. I'm as much a nobody to him now
as I was then. I moved up to pro in 79 after he was gone, and by 81 my body was broken. I don't remember the
name Billy Joyce, but you know how it is when you're just starting out - it's all almost too huge to take in
and comprehend. I remember Mark Gregson and Monte Mitchell riding Kawi's, and Les Womack on Yamaha's, and Jace
Craun on Suzuki's, and Tim Michlitsch on Yamahas, and a 13 or 14 year old Rowdy Blaisdell winning all six pro
motos at Mac, and Jimmy Anderson and Jeff Cropper on Mini's, and Kevin Jansen looking too tall for his Elsinore,
and ... and if I could go back in time I'd do it in an instant (so long as I could start over a couple years
earlier and with a bigger bank account and a clearer head...and I'd stay there forever...ok, I'm surely speaking
figuratively, there's more to life and it's awful good too...but that was a magic time...

Kevin now works for Philsboro Motorsports after calling Beavertons place. They were nice enough to give out where he was. He was really cool to talk to and we bench raced for a bit and he saw someone that's tight with Gregson recently, so maybe your tip will help a lot.
Dang, Monte Mitchell, Rowdy Blaisdell, Michlitsch, Womack...remember them.
Oh, if you didn't know, Eric Hall is racing 40+ once he turned 40 with Kevin and forgot whoelse Kevin mentioned..
Those were magical days for sure Scott. Expert classes like mini Nationals with full gates and in one or two cases; 2 divisions of every Pro class..
Sure was a magical time. You are so right.
Thanks for your help Scott. I think it may prove to bear fruit. Peace. Andy.
Appreciate the tip.

He was so far ahead in one moto he pulled over and got a drink of soda from a friend watching then took off.
