husky 125? year?

does anyone know what year this husky is??? and is it a 125? it was in my buddies garage and huskys from the early 80's all look the same to me....thanksSmile

My guess would be 82 / 83. They put the 125s in the same chassis as the 250, and 430. I had the 430, looked just like that. For some reason, they called mine an 82 1/2 ?

They go straight real well, but don't turn good at all, and the brakes are horrible. Good desert bike.

I loved all of the Husky's when they were true Husky's.

Actually...Larry, it does look pretty damn good for a Husky

...they usually got beat to shit before anyone thought of selling them. Bullet proof bikes back then, huh ?

Yes they were and made out of high grade Euro materials, much like the KTM's of today. If I bought it the first thing I would do would be to send the engine to Mitch. Bet he would get the porting tool out himself for that Gem.Cool

I actually bought the Husky that ended his (Mitch) riding career. I remember his Husqvarna dealer in Anaheim. Small but mighty !

That bike looks fantastic. It looks almost new. I'd love that bike. I like early 80's 125's
Its either 81 or 82. I would say 81. The 83 went to white tank , fork legs, frame and swing arm with a blue seat.

You can tell mine is 81 and the 125 is 81 or 82 by the side panels. 83 panels were completely different.

Here is my 430 which I just sold. The previous owner tried to make it look 83 but it's 81.

I think they called yours an 82 1/2 because in the second half of 82 they made the 430 in to a full 500. Sure yours wasnt a 500 ?

No mine was a 430...Never understood why they called it an 82 1/2 Just remember when I needed parts I would say 82, and would be corrected.

well, i went ahead and bought it...i'm going to give it to my nephew to fix and race in some vintage stuff...he's pretty happy about it, even though i told him it was probably the slowest and heaviest of the 125s in 82...does anyone know where i could get a cone pipe made for it? or does any aftermarket company make any parts for these?

After market parts are hard to find, Vintage Husky is a good parts source. You could try George Erl of Up-Tite Husky he used to make pipes. Pro-Circuit used to make these bikes fly. The bikes are stable and handle well. Frog

think you have an 82 125. 81 had black cyl and head, 82 silver. definitely not an 83. here's my 83, recently refurbised. It has the 175cc kit installed.

Yota- the bike looks great. The ultimate 125 cheater bike! It would be a good match for my 1984 Husky 250XC. Do the yellow [heavier]shock springs make a big diffrence? Frog

Frog, I just finished this refurb and the new Ohlins shock springs have not been used yet. I bought this bike in 96 and used it hard for almost 3 years off road (it was my only bike at the time). suspension both ends was always too soft, we have a lot of huge sand whoops here in central florida. just sitting on the bike and bouncing it, it feels 10 times better. also put heavier after market springs in the forks with 20 wt oil and blocked off one of the holes in the damper rod ea leg last week, trying to get more damping. hope to take it out and try it in a couple of weeks. I just went thru a binge of sprucing up all my vintage and pv bikes, which haven't been used in years (I've been sidtracked by newer technology) Smile here's my falta 400
