Firefox or the mac browser?
I was using Firefox on the PC and liked it. Is it the same on mac?
and is there an alternative mail program? Something a little closer to Outlook? The Mac mail is really stripped down

Sorry for the mac questions.

For what it's worth, so far I like it
I have been a little frustrated on a few things, but mostly because I am learning.
Like I said to my kids, it's computer, but it's different, kinda like learning to ride a bike that steers from the rear.

I use Safari with Firefox as the back up if a site doesn't like Safari.

Can't help you on the email. Been happy with what's there through .mac. I think the new .mac/mac me may give you more

I use the firefox browser instead of safari. Safari's a little quicker, but firefox seems to be more compatible with different sites. 3.0 runs great.

If you like outlook, then run outlook. Outlook 5 comes with office 2008 so you can run everything you had before.

You might want to try importing your outlook contacts into the address book (export from outlook then import into address book). That's where mail looks for most of the info it uses. Mail shouldn't feel so stripped down then.

If you haven't checked it out yet. Apple's website has a ton of documentation on making the switch easier for those who are used to the ways of windows.

I haven't tried the newest version of Firefox, but I always liked Camino more. It's a little more streamlined and kind of like a hybrid of Firefox and Safari. Not that FF is bad or anything. (I get crucified on forums by people who think I'm bashing their precious web browser..)

Personally I use Safari with the Saft addon installed. (I personally pirated it but it costs like thirty bucks if you don't like stealing software.) Camino and Opera are my backup browsers, just to have other options if I need them for whatever.

No idea about Mail alternatives, I've always been a webmail sort of person, sorry.

I don't use safari on my mac. I use Flock which is just firefox with some nice stuff built in. Firefox and Camino the way to go in my book. Not a big fan of safari.

Mac mail is good. I thought the same thing until I got into it a little more. Now I love it. I have 5 email accounts on my gmail so I added gmail to mac mail and now I get all those on the mac mail so when I read or delete a message it updates on gmail also. It doesn't have a calender feature because, well you have ical for that. Mess with it more, you'll get used to it.

Another great email program you may like is mozilla thunderbird if you just don't want to use mac mail but want an alternative to outlook. They make it for mac as well.
