Power bleeding brakes?

I just changed my front break cable to a braided line on my YZ450F and I still have a spongy feel. I was told this would go away if I got ALL the air out which is very difficult unless you get them power bleed.

Anyone have experience with this ?

I got a 08 yz250f with braided lines, were very spongy. So I bought a master cyclinder rebuild kit for it, it helped a little but I can't seem to get them as good as my old Honda

yup... i was told if i power bleed them it would make them postive feeling again. My KX250F are perfect, same master cylinder and caliper i think...

quick, clean and simple to vacuum bleed.
if you dont have equipment you can try injecting fluid through the bleeder with a squeeze bottle rig
to push the air back up through the master cylinder (it will be constantly spilling over , messy).
or you can try unbolting the caliper and holding it above the master cylinder so you can bleed
the air up and out. keep the bleeder screw at the high point.

Where can I get the vacuum bleed tools, automotive? Ill look on line too.. .


But , right, I see the bubbles coming up to the little plastic window in my master cylinder, holding the caliper above it would make the air travel up and through the caliper bleeder?

take your reservoir cap off, expand your brakes (compress the piston) because you have air trapped in the piston area. when you spread your brake pads out i'm betting you'll see some bubbles shoot out your reservoir.

and this almost always happens when u change a whole brake cable.

Do the "push the piston in" thing, and take the caliper off. Raise it as high as you can over the master cylinder, and bleed it that way. Air rises, remember. I have a vacuum pump, and I still do this, when I install a new line. Use a piece of wood in the vise, and clamp the master to the wood. U can pick up a pump at any decent auto parts store. Buy the aluminum Mity Vac, they are the best. Worth every dime.

Buy a Harbor Freight or Pep Boys hand-squeeze bleeder kit.
Never a problem until my (new in April) 09. Switched a braided hose from my 07 that worked great. Never could get the 09 to bleed all the air out.
Put it back on the 07 and it was fine, so I figured it was trapped air in the caliper or master.. Drove me NUTS!
The bleeder made it all good for the past seven months.
POWER BRAKES.Grinning
