I do also see Joe's perspective.
Picture a close friend who you've known and worked with for YEARS.
Another coworker comes and tells you information that goes against everything you've ever known about your friend.
Would your first reaction be to go to the police?
My gut tells me that I wouldn't immediately be too inclined to get the police involved in a situation regarding hearsay.
Joe instead picks another route and tells administrators KNOWING that they are LEGALLY responsible for getting to the bottom of things like this.
He tells them - YEARS go by; Joe likely assumes that the university investigated the incident and found nothing.
While I see his perspective, I do agree with you guys, he should have informed the police.
Oh ya now that you put it that way, I can see where we have got it all wrong.
