"I felt that he rode recklessly," Barcia said. "He came from one side of the track all the way over to the other side and just cleaned me out. I was really mad and then I did something stupid waiting for him and blocking his way. It wasn't the right thing to do."
Both riders were fined 500 euros and given warnings about aggressive riding. Later, after the podium ceremony, the two addressed the crowd together and apologized for their actions, although Barcia's interview was drowned out by the irate crowd. "The fans deserve to be upset," said Barcia, whose bike was damaged enough that he couldn't race in the main event.
"They want to see us ride and tomorrow this will all be water under the bridge and we'll give them a great show. No hard feelings; it's over as far as we're concerned."

Geesh! 500 euros = $707.75 in US dollars. Smile
Aranda should pay his fine with US currency all in pennies.

Aranda is not a pimple on Barcia's ass.

Barcia realized it was not intentional. He basically saw a guy squid out in front of him and take him out. Happens all the time in racing. Barcia is thinking 'if this guy could hold his bike in a straight line, I wouldnt be on the ground.'
Sounds very similar to Barcia landing in front of Dungey earlier this year. Then he couldn't understand why Dungey was upset.

Is this what all the fuss is about?

I gotta admit ... Barcia doesn't look too good running away like that. He doesn't have to throw down but at least stand your ground. Not like anyone is getting hurt trying to fight in full gear with all the officials around them. So did Aranda walk over and lay down on the track after the end of the clip?

Would have been better with some audio. Anyone have?

i hear ya but its all relative...
when you get fast enough there is plenty of support to keep going but it has to start somewhere and there are PLENTY of kids in this country whose parents cant afford to get them there first bike, let alone everything that goes with it and entry fees and so on.
comparatively speaking it takes A LOT of money to race.

again... "rich" is a relative term....

You undoubttedly have no idea what these parents give up to keep their kids competitive. I am 30 years old have a little boy who is just getting in to racing and a 4 month old daughter, I make about 75,000 a year. We have a 37' gas burning motorhome a 2007 crf 450, 2000 RM 250, and two 2009 CRF 50's. We race at least 12 races a year and I run two classes most races. I am the largesrt earner in my family so I aquired this by hard work and smart financial planning, if my kids want to pursue racing they will be on the best equipment that I can afford even if I have to work two jobs and remortgage my 150,000 home. So i would advise you to think before you post, just because "you" cant manage your finances well enough to race or support racers doesnt mean that all racers were born with a siver spoon in their mouth. Oh yeah our closest track is 2 hours away and the trip to Loretta's every year is a 5000 buck trip. PRIORITIES SIR thats all!

and you just proved your dumb as fuck... relatively speaking that is... ha!

did I say what i can and can not afford? it wasnt about me. there are families around every corner with the top earner being under 30k....

you totally missed the point.

do you have ANY idea how many american families would consider $75k a year rich?

you just proved my point with everything you listed... it takes A LOT of money to race.

im not even going to stoop to your level to talk about personal finances....why would you even, make such a leap like that from my post? did I say if I raced or not? Did I say how much I make or if "I" can afford it?

wow...

Ok so my hard work in a career construction job with only a high school education, which makes just above the median income in the US makes me a dumb fuck? I bust my ass daily to provide my family with their wants and needs, sometimes when I dont feel like it, I believe that you can make 30000 a year now at Micky D's, so yeah I can see where it would be hard for a single parent on Micky D income would have a hard time racing. Maybe they should think about that before they start having kids. By the way 75000 is my total family income my wife stays at home with the kids, so if you think that is rich it just shows how lost you really are.

and sorry if my post sounded directed at you but it was at the "underfunded" families. if they make 30000 a year they should concentrate on bettering themselves long before trying to make their kids make money for them

no, your posting style makes you dumb as fuck....
i dont give two shits what you do...
the fact that you think people making less than you need to better themselves in someway also makes you dumb as fuck...

i employ several people that fit this category and they all are great people and do not need to better themselves in any way... BUT they can not afford to race like you... and that sir is the point; it takes a lot of money to race no matter which way you slice it. You just stated all you pay out and how you "make it happen", its not about what YOU will sacrifice.

this is way off subject anyways.... sorry for derailing the thread (even if i didnt start it...)

And all i am saying is there a MILLIONS of Americans that would disagree with you and can not afford to race.

THAT was the point.

You should be thankful for what you have.

No thankful for the choices I made and the hard work I put in to get there. No problems with you at all just think your outlook on this is based on POVERTY level incomes and they shouldnt be worrying about racing

35% of americans make less than $25k per year...
look here...

thats one way to look at it, BUT they own homes and live fairly stress free lives... they just cant afford the same things that you and i maybe can...
that doesnt mean they need to improve, they are just fine...

you shouldnt judge people so harshly...

one last time sir... the point is it takes money to race, not whether certain demographics SHOULD be spending money on it...

Ok i will agree with that, it does take money to race, but to say all racers come from wealthy families, completely assinine. Back to the Barcia is a pussy thread! And no way do I think Barcia is a puissy and yes he should have handled it differently, but its in the past and we can only move forward. He did not lose my fanship by that one slip of temper.

SKIPPING to page 5...

Aranda... Amateur... Hour.

If you cross jump an entire lane, while up front... in the first corner... in SX/AX you deserve what you get. He could've easily injured multiple riders because of it, mistake or not. Barcia was heated, in the moment, went a little overboard, understandable. Until you've been cross jumped in the first lane, for no reason resulting in broken bones then you should STFU.

That was classic AX Amateur day, all the way.

Personally I think the incident on lap one was more of a racing incident created by the arenacross style track they have in Bercy than a deliberate takeout but Aranda did come across Barcia's line and knock him down. I give Barcia credit for going back after him and handling it like they did when racing took balls instead of daddy's money. Too many riders and individuals in this world have gone pussy and just complain and whine on twitter and facebook rather than actually doing something about it. This is exactly how racing used to be. Riders handled their differences on the track. I'd say Aranda won't make that same mistake again when dealing with Barcia. I am all for riders and racers in general standing up for themselves. He didn't do anything to hurt Aranda and did just enough to ruin his race without going dirty on him. Wrong would have been driving into the side of him and sending him over the bails with the intent to injure him. Barcia is the modern day Hannah and I like the kid more and more for reasons such as this.
Sorry, you are wrong and so was Barcia. And before you start telling me how racing used to be, or that Hannah would have done the same thing, I can tell you from experience that you are wrong. Aranda got out of control and took out Barcia...big fucking deal. It was a racing incident. If Barcia had gotten up, caught back up to Aranda and then taken him out it would have been bad judgement and not too smart, but acceptable, based on him working from the (wrong) assumption of getting purposely taken out. To wait for the pack to come around and then just fuck up the guys race was chickenshit and not an acceptable move under any circumstances. It's the unwritten rule book, man, and real racers know it. I suspect Barcia regrets doing that and is now aware of this rule. I'm surprised he wasn't aware of it before.
10/30/2011 6:06pm
Bauer,
You have hit the nail on the head. I think he's a brat honestly. He is fast yeah but who is more out of control than Barcia? He got a taste of his own medicine and that's how he reacted. I get that he was mad. But the waiting a lap on the guy... is not even close to acceptable. Does he think he's fucking Kyle Busch!??? He says its water under the bridge because he knows he was a idiot. He should have got up and raced either way. I think that proves he's a baby and I don't buy that his bike was too hurt to race... has he jumps it off the track and smarts off a few times and rides away.

Barcia was 100 percent wrong. I didn't like him before and I like him less now. How many people are going to let him get away with it. He pulls that move on RV and it will be the last time IMO.

I got to see Barcia take out kids at Mini Os for no reason then I got to see him do the same thing in practice at Atlanta SX so seeing him act like a fool now is no suprise to me.

A bunch of douches on this thread. Kawi rider was out of control. Nobody hit his bike and this was the second time he rammed Barcia. No excuses for Barcia's actions.... a fist fight afterwards would have done him no good. That Euro rider is going to hurt someone.
I feel the exact same way, if someone took me out, i would brush it off. But if they did it again, i would be pissed and get them back.. That European guy had it coming. This in no way makes barcia a douche, because half of you wouldve done the same thing!

2/3 Mains Aranda was in, or caused first turn carnage.

Coincedence, Racing or recklessness??? Look at all the room he had on the inside. That doesn't happen in AMA SX, cross jumping off the first single.

All you guys who think Barcia is a pussy, he led Dungey in his first 450 race longer than Cairoli ever has.

I'm glad Barcia let him know that is unnacceptable before he hurts someone.

BArcia is one of my favorite rider and I got to say, his move was disappointing. He knows better and he had nothing to gain, especially against a French rider at a French race. I don't care for Aranda but Barcia just crossed the JLaw line.

I'm still a Barcia fan. He's a great rider, and is very amusing, makes the races just that much more exciting.

Barcia's badass in my opinion.

With the OP vid as my only context here I'd say that was poor form on Barcias part.
