I am just wondering if anyone is thinking the same. The team used to say one year contracts for bikes. Make their own works parts. Make the rider train with them in NC. All these things were unique and aproached a running a team in a really cool way. Now I'm sure James will train at his compund, Yamaha is giving a lot more support, which they won't like JGR to not used the after market Yamaha stuff, and they are stuck on one brand. Maybe the way they were doing things just didn't work and they just fell in line with the rest.

They're still going to be different. The whole "rider trains and lives in NC" bit was based on the rider being unproven. It gave the rider structure that he didn't have otherwise. Bringing in a guy that has a proven record makes that rule pointless.

I don't see them strapping on GYTR stuff. Their whole original idea was being like NASCAR, where the teams make every piece of the car from R&D and slap a sticker on it and call it a Toyota etc...Yamaha will still get plenty of publicity just for being the brand bike they run. JGR has spent too much money on development of the bike, from the forks and shock all the way to the the engine oil, to just scrap it and put some Yamaha aftermarket stuff on.

I am pretty sure J Bone said that they'd love to have bikes for more than one year but that they couldn't get a commitment out of a manufacturer. So it isn't like they wanted to be year-to-year.

I'm by no means saying that the program is going to suffer hiring JS7 or getting more support from Yamaha. I was just saying that the things they started with that made them unique are going away. It was really a fresh idea in our sport, but i still think they will be successful.

James Stewart will start winning championships again now that he's with JGR. That's what Gibbs does is win championships and he will give Stewart everything he needs to make it happen.

JGR and most race teams are in a constant state of change and maturing anyway, so I don't think it will matter if they are the same or not. They're a pretty young team with a lot of enthusiasm, plus the parts and connections to have an excellent bike.. I don't think the brand of bike actually matters for 2012. The bike also, has already been tried and tested and is more than up-for-the-job.
