What is the AMA's system to figure out who gets automatically bumped up to B class and who doesn't from the 85 class?

B is Intermediate correct ?? I think from an 85 to C is ok just depends in their skill level, all things should be considered before just moving a kid to an Intermediate class.

If you race the A (Expert class) in 85's you cannot race the C class on big bikes, as long as you don't go A (85's) you cant be forced to B (Big Bikes) unless you point out of the C class.

The 85 class is generally more competitive than the B class..................which means most kids who raced 85's (80's) shouldn't be in the C class.

If you've raced prior to 2010 (that means 2009 or earlier) or ever qualified for LL you are no longer a beginner ---> C rider. Even if that was on a PW 50.

Although many areas have had their own methods of advancement in the past (I remember in D18 it used to be something like the top 15% of 85 riders were advanced to Cool , this is the relevant AMA rule now. I am not sure about the "85 Expert" class they have in the northeast, but that is not an A class for the purposes of this rule. In addition, no rider can be forced to A class before the year they are 16 for riding purposes.:

10. The following criteria are to be used when determining a
rider’s eligibility for the C class:
a. No rider is to be classified as a C rider if that rider had
a RPV of 15 or higher the previous year in the C class
or a 12-16 youth division.
b. No rider is to be classified as a C rider if that rider has
ever been classified as an A rider.
c. No rider is to be classified as a C rider if that rider has
qualified for the AMA Amateur Motocross Nationals in
any previous year in any class.
d. No rider is to be classified as a C rider if that rider is
receiving or has ever received any type of OEM factory
support in any class.
e. If a rider doesn't meet any of the above criteria, they
may not participate in the C class if they have raced C
or any youth class above 12 years old the previous two
calendar years and have an RPV of 11.0 or higher.
