Dude, a close friend of mine is doing his 1st ironman. The time it takes is incredible! If you have a normal job, you must sacrifice everything else to do it. I wish I could but with work and family commitments, I can't. Do the local small ones and work on your time. I sincerely admire those who can complete an ironman!

No kidding about the time commitment. And I can't swim worth a damn. Got to work on that. Should I get a bike like Racer111 or can I race on a regular road bike?

I train about 30 hours a week. Did my first 112 mile ride here in KY about 2 weeks ago. 21.4 mph average! It's flat down in Florida, but pretty hilly in KY. That and being off the bike for a few months didn't help. No, I do not have any full sponsors. I get help from a few places, but no free stuff yet. Hopefully in 2012 when I do IM KY, I will do well enough to gain some. Shooting for 9 hours and 30 minutes.

Miami will be my first. I have done practice IM's with the club, and I know I'm ready, but I am not going to get the time I was shooting for earlier in the year before getting hit. I have been running about 45 miles a week, biking 200-300 miles a week, and 10,000-15,000 yards a week in the pool. Weight training 2 times a week. In the last year I have gone from 198 pounds to 141 pounds. It's been a tough journey as the 49 lbs were not fat. I was just jacked. Slimming down to where I am is one of the toughest things I have had to do physically. 2012 will be a huge year for me.

That is a crazy amount of training. Good luck with that! Not in my future. I'll stick to mx and my short bike rides and runs. 9 hours riding and running is insane! Just curious, did you have a swimming background? I ask because I'm just getting into it and finding it pretty hard.

Getting started, I think you don't even need what I have, a Trek Madone 4.5. What Racer111 has is insane and is NOT for someone new to the sport.

Get an AL frame with carbon forks for a nice street ride. Then decide if you want more...

Thanks, I appreciate it. And no, I had zero swimming background. I just got in the pool and statred swimming after watching youtube videos for proper freestyle technique. Just work is all it takes. Smile

And yes, you do not need a 10,000.00 plus machine like mine to have fun and enjoy the sport of Triathlon. I am trying to turn Pro and obtain my "Elite" card. Just get you a Trek 1.2 and do some sprint tri's and see how you like them. I bet you get hooked!

Got about 200 miles on it. I like it a lot. Just wish the days were longer. i haven't rode it in a while, but will likely purchase a trainer to get back into it. Gotta do something in the winter besides hockey.

Since we are on the bicycle thing........here's my 2012 ride. All carbon frame, carbon forks, carbon brake lever, and Ti bolts everywhere...........it's a sweet riding bike!

No, I never said I hadn't done a sprint or international. I said I hadn't done a FULL IM yet. My 1000 yard time is 12:57, 1500 hovers around 22:00-23:00. I am not the best swimmer. I have only been doing it for a little over a year.

No, I never said I hadn't done a sprint or international. I said I hadn't done a FULL IM yet. My 1000 yard time is 12:57, 1500 hovers around 22:00-23:00. I am not the best swimmer. I have only been doing it for a little over a year.
What international distance tri's have you done? I have a friend that does a lot of that distance - maybe you've raced each other.

No air filters...equals reduced engine life..
No blinkers equals a car crash...
Exhaust pointing out the side..equals a burned leg or foot at a stop light...
No front fender equals water all over the engine, pants and face...blinding your eyes...and potentially crashing...
Flat seat equals a trip to the chiropractor...
No muffler...which aggrevates the neighbors and gives motorcycling a bad name...

THERE IS SO MANY DESIGN FLAWS WITH THI S MOTORCYCLE...please son open your eyes
