Yeah, I tend to root for the NC boys a little too.

I have an 2009 250sx, bought it new in 2010 as a left over which is rare. I love it. I'm not sure how much better they are now, but my bike is the closest thing you can get to 4-stroke type power in a 2-stroke. They give you 3 tuning springs for the power valve and I keep the most mellow one in it, cause i'm more of a low to mid range kinda guy. Then I put a PC pipe on it and it really increased the low to mid range even more without losing much on top.

I'm not sure how the new suspension is on the 2012's, but I did need to get mine done. My suspension guy told me that they used the same valving specs on the 250SX as the 450SXF that year, so it was harsh as hell and a hand full in braking bumps. It's smooth as butter now, just as good as my YZ250F with KYB SSS stuff, if not better.

It also feels like riding a 125 because it's so light. It's my first KTM and i've owed all 4 jap brands. This bike without a doubt is the most quality built bike i've ever owned hands down.
Cool, thanks for the review. It sounds like a great bike. KTM's are starting to grow on me I must say.

Why does he look so big on the bike? Is the KTM really that much smaller of a frame?

I wouldn't go into much thought about his Leatt,,,He wasn't out there doing hard motos, he was just getting used to the bike. He definitely wasn't doing it for the camera, this was no type of media event. And if he looks big on the bike, it may be because I was shooting down on him from a large hill the whole time. Yes I had Roger's blessing to be there, but I didn't want to interfere at all on this day, so I stayed up and out of the way, talking with ML512 most of the time.

Actually no. Dungey hit another growth spurt and reports have him at 6'7 245 pounds now.

Money, personal, it was damaged or he forgot it I assume? Other top dogs are still using it meaning no wall between us and them. In 99.9% cases in Moto we outsiders are clueless of course, but if not Leatt themselves leaks negative pre-data to the insiders, I suggest the pre-testing already provided, the interview with Dr Leatt himself, and the yet not published evidence would favor the Leatt. I also suggest the critics so far have no case whatsoever, other than personal experience or third hand rumors which has no validity if facts guide safety in our lives...

So if a pro riders ditch it, it proves shit.
im not arguing with you here. i didnt say it proved anything. i was just shocked.
Cool.

For a guy who has lost the last two titles due to mechanicals seems a bit risky to go with the most unproven brand in the sport?

the piece of shit leatt fell off or came almost completely unbuckled quite a bit this season. my guess is he got sick of that $500 turd getting in the way.

just my opinion.

however, like already stated, it may have been left off for photos... but i doubt it
That's a valid concern, but I assume him wearing it would be attached to some sponsorship, and him not wearing it now creates tons of negative PR. So one wonder what the hell is going on.

Until there's proof saying this is bad, I'm wearing mine despite what the pros' decides to do, which I suggest should be common sense. Sure they are device and all on bikes, but as decisions makers they are not superior in any way...

No dummy`s, he`s not wearing one because he feels that much more comfortable on a KTM.

That's why I commented earlier on that he looked big on the bike. Something just looks different.

That is definatly the new XCW/EXC engine. I rode them at the dealer meeting and several of us wanted to take them out onto the MX course even in woods trim. Hope mabey we will see a 500 SX version as well. The 500 was really a sweet engine. Should be light also. The EXC with a six speed, lights, estart and kickstart is only a few pounds heavier than the current 450 MX'ers. That top end has been around since 08 and the same top end is on the Husabergs. A 570 kit exists also but you have to change the rod becuase the wrist pin is larger. Its been an urban legend around KTM that almost every rider that rode the old carbed XCW engine cut faster lap times than they did on the twin cam SX engine.

That bike looks so freakin sweet! Pretty pumped he's a RedBull athlete now too!

Wonder why they use Selle Dalla Valle seat covers? I know they have them on some of their OEM special editions like the six days enduros. Anyone here ever used one?

So what does FOX do with the Dungey 2012 replica gear now? Not that it makes a whole big poop.

So it looks like RD5 is using the KTM EXC engine.

I bet the enduro guys wouldn't mind seeing the setting for that engine!!!??
