I've found a used '09 KTM 150, looks clean but owner thinks there are over 50 hours on it. It doesn't have an hour meter, so I'm guessing he is over estimating how much he rode, but maybe not? How many hrs are too many for these bikes? If I would buy it I would most likely rebuild the lower and top end right away, but what about the rest of the bike? What would be a good price for this?

If I was buying the bike this is what i would personally do based on the KTM's i've wrenched on in the past:
1) Inspect top end. I almost unconditionally put a new piston, ring, and wrist pin bearing in the bike. Unless I get the top end apart and I can visually tell and verify by measuring the piston has very few hours on it.
2) Inspect the crank rod and crank bearings while the cylinder is off. If in doubt, replace. Cheaper to do it now then to let it break.
7) Check the spark plug. If heavily gunked, replace.
3) Have the suspension serviced with new fluid.
4) Inspect the air filter. Clean or replace if detoriated.
5) Pull the carb bowl off. Pull each jet out and give them a quick cleaning and spray with compressed air. re-install.
6) Check inside the fuel tank for any debris floating in the bottom. Clean if necessary.
7) Replace the old brake fluid with new.
8) Give the bike a general check over and check all nuts/bolts/fasteners, brake pads, and bearings.
If you do everything on this list you should have good peace of mind that the bike will be reliable and in good running condition. I think a fair price for the bike would be around $3,000 but probably worth no more than $3,400 unless it was heavily modded.
