Did the security gaurds-allegedly-handle the situtation the best say (assuming the OP's account of the story is accurate...which is a stretch), no. But regardless, the kid stole. Didn't respect authority, and got a bump on the head to show for it. Next time, don't steal.
When I was in 8th grade, on the school bus on the way home from school, me and a friend were throwing paper at a kid in front of us (not a bid deal at all). The bus driver told us to stop many many many times. We didn't listen. We get to my stop, and as I'm leaving the bus the bus driver grabs my arm (hard enough to leave finger prints in my wrist) and swings me into the seat right behind the drivers seat, and I hit my head on the wall below the window. He proceeds to get in my face, and tells me that when I'm on the bus I have to do what he says.
Of course, I'm not happy with this situation, run home. Show my mom the marks on my arm, the bump on my head and tell her my side of the story. She gets a bit upset. And tells me in the morning she'll go talk to the bus driver.
The next morning, I'm standing with my mom at the bus stop. The door opens, my mom asks the bus driver to come off the bus so she can talk to him, I'm smirking there next to her, proud of myself for getting the bus driver in trouble. ....the bus driver, expecting a show down with my mom, SLOWLY gets off the bus.....once hes off, my mom says that I told her about what happened yesterday and that she wasn't happy about it at all (my smirk gets a little wider). My mom then turns to me, and tells me to apologize to the bus driver, that MY behavior was unaccepible.
I learned a VALUABLE lesson that day. And more kids need the same lesson.
