I'm looking at a bike located in Iowa. I'm in Louisiana. Most of the shipping companies are about $600. These companies are setup to haul Harleys.

What have you guys done?
Am I doomed to pay$600 to ship a $2000 bike?

Thanks

Crate it. Forward Air and FedEx Freight (requires an account) are usually the best deal. Don't say it's a bike, just the weight and dimensions, and motorcycle parts if asked (technically if the front wheel and bars are removed).

It will have to be crated, but this is the best deal I've ever found.

I tore down an RM125 and shipped it in 5 boxes to NY from WI for $168.00 a few years ago through the Post office.

Shipped a bike from Wi to Denver for $191 via fed ex ground. Crate it up as small as possible.Remove the wheels, bars and suck the suspension down. Just tell them its automotive parts.

Creative shipping?
Around 2000-2001, Paul Edmondson checked two RM 250's through as baggage on a flight to England. The frame had the wheels and forks layed in it and wrapped up, and the engine and rest of the parts were in large gear bags.
