Not the toughest but definately up there... think Last Man Standing or Hells Gate are tougher? Get less than 10 finishers by the end...

I went to every Last Man Standing event (and had several friends race it) and the goal of building the course was for only 1 person to finish. LMS was a 40 mile loop... 2 laps during the day, one at night... but backwards.

It was gnarly watching Knight, Blazusiak and even Geoff Aaron struggle out there.

Erzberg is awesome though. Would love to travel there to try and survive it!

Yup about 20km from where my Dad grew up. Went by it countless times as a kid before there was a rodeo...

Last Man Standing eliminates people as the event goes on if I'm not mistaken. Erzberg is 500 people and you finish when you finish.

Trials riders 1- 2 at Erzberg. Six in the top 10. Shoulda been an all Trial podium. Graham Jarvis won, he was robbed.

Did you watch the video?
Well, Graham Jarvis missed a checkpoint, so he did not win.

I missed my opportunity to go to Erzberg a couple years ago. My sister was living about an hour away and I had plans to go but just didn't make it. She has since moved so I probably won't be making it any time soon. I was really looking forward to going. I always thought one of the things that made Erzberg the toughest was also the qualifying. You start out with the Pikes Peak style mountain climb and have to have a bike fast enough to qualify to the next round. But then you have to ride the same bike in all stages of the race.

graham jarvis is a friend of mine and he beat taddy by 6 mins .he missed the check by 5meters. none of the marshals were waving him through. he asked if he could walk the course and was told only on foot no vehicles .oh but if you see taddy ask him he might give you a lift in his ktm 4x4 truck. ktm sponsers the event and the factory team spend the week up there checking it out .he allso won romaniacs the year before last. he was robbed of the win.but he was happy because he said he knows that he can beat him

That sucks, doesn't surprise me though, KTM and Red Bull have a lot of pull and wanted to make sure Taddy could get 5 in a row, not a huge fan of Taddy myself so I hope Graham can keep beating him, the results will stick sooner or later!

I just don't get why any one would want to take a 7000.00 bike and totally trash it like that. I try not to even ride on days that are very muddy these days, just because it's hard on the bikes and wears things out.

Some people have too much money I guess.

You don't tug on supermans cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off of old lone ranger and you don't mess around with slim!

Well, if he missed that blue flag at CP16 by just 5 m, why he did not stop there?
Maybe he just lost the race because of a mistake?

Because it is fun. The sense of accomplishment of dominating a gnarly rock section, blasting up a 40 foot hill to a 6 foot vertical wall, single track so tight you have to wiggle your bars through, just real natural terrain.

At the same time, I don't see how guys can go to the track and just do lap after lap after lap after lap on the same course (even though I'll go do that too).

I've ridden the Last Man Standing course and it's different everytime, more/less challenging, new roots/rocks/etc. That's what makes it fun, you never really know what you're going to get.

...and I don't have a whole lotta money either!
