Do you practice by yourself or with friends?

I usually ride with the same group of guys every week, but this time I decided to ride by myself. I have thought in the past that riding with friends who are close in speed pushed me to go faster because we are very competitive out there on the track.

But I realized this weekend riding by myself that I could break the track down into sections and focus on those sections and practice corners without having to worry about racing with my buds.

I think it helped me and I actually had fun even though I was the only one out there and had good sessions, focusing more on smoothness and line selection.

I like to go with my friends, keeps it fun and I like to play around with them once I get my fast laps in. (or my, attempt to go fast laps I should say). I'm faster than most of my friends though, because they just ride for fun occasionally. I don't really have that many friends that are intermediate/pro. And if they are they usually ride down south where I can't afford.

yeah, that's the way I usually am, but it was a good change up for me I think. I wouldn't want to do it all the time by any means, but just to focus on MY riding was a good change.

btw-I didn't go to a track with any really scetchy jumps either as I wouldn't want to crash with none else around.

The way I found speed is by riding with people faster than myself. I made friends with most of them.

When I ride by myself I do this same thing. However, I rarely go riding by myself anymore but this is a good strategy. I enjoy it because you just worry about yourself and you're not focused on riding with friends. Breaking up the track and practicing certain sections is one of the best things you can do IMO. You can get a section down quicker when you keep doing it over and over. I need to do this more often haha.

I never rode alone, as I didn't want to be injured and have no one to find me. Johhny'O and Donnie Hansen had some National caliber tracks at a place called Drinkwater Flats, back in the day (about 3 miles from my back door). I remember some local guy crashing there while riding alone, getting hurt and dying.

I definitely prefer riding by myself. I focus on my riding way more. At a motocross track it helps me to watch the faster guys' lines and see how they are attacking obstacles. In the woods though, I do way better focusing on my own thing. I never ride without someone around though. Too dangerous.

This.

We'll all go together, but end up doing seperate things. I hate being at the track by myself... Too many bad things could happen.

I ride with mates I find it a lot more fun I seem to get bored quick if I ride by myself.
