I never played, untamed, reflex, or even alive. Alive is dog crap, and I heard reflex was sick because one joy stick controlled the rider and the other controlled the bike... Is that sick? I heard it was. Never heard anything about untamed. Was that good?

I remember playing supercross circuit and that was sick. I played all those 90s gamess but then when mx unleashed came out, that was so sick! Then, I cant remember the name now, but it was the one after that. mx vs. atv something, and that was sick! you had two motos in the outdoors and you qualified in sx just like the real thing. I loved it.

So, how was untamed, reflex, and ALIVE compared to those I played?

Unleashed for me, reflex wasn't as bad as alot of people made it out to be.

In my book :

1) SX Circuit way ahead of its time, had East AND West coasts for 125, made you progress through the career mode could do 20 lap motos, had the FIRST terrain deformation, even if it wasnt the best. Spent hours on end with this game (Im more of a console guy anyway, and I was young when these games first started coming out)

2) Mx vs ATV Unleashed why THQ went away from this I'll never know (though I think this is when the lead designer position was changed, was Brian Coonce before Elliott)

3) MTX Mototrax: the first mx game on XBOX Live (I believe). Career mode was sick, TP 199 was in it and added to the story. Oh btw you got TP's compound FOR FREE at Launch Whistling , not a day later. The freestyle was challenging at first but became fun. There was even an X Games freestyle event, guessing sales hurt this game, otherwise could have been a hit (was released a few months before MVA Unleashed). Also physics werent the best, but game was still fun.

4) MCM2 (Motocross Madness 2) - I know a lot of you guys like this game especially the older guys. I was probably 10 or so when it came out, didnt do online didnt know how really. My game didnt run really well because it was on my dads computer which I dont believe met the requirements (he doesnt know the difference on that stuff) and I had trouble running races with 20 guys (lagged like crazy). But the attempt to even do so is commendable in itself.

5) MCM (Motocross Madness) - This and Supercross Circuit both came out in 1998 (I believe) and swung the doors open wide for the motocross gaming world. Graphics were good, freestyle was cool, racing was so much fun, tracks were CRAZY, had a lot of time on that. I remember my dad bought that for me Christmas of that year and it was the first real game I ever had. Reason I have SX Circuit as number 1 and I have this a lot lower is the way SX Circuit was designed. SX Circuit had a real career with replicas of real tracks had all the big 5 bike manufacturer's except Suzuki, real riders, and like I said the original terrain deformation (ruts in corners only).

Honorable mention: ATV Offroad Fury 1, Championship Motocross featuring Ricky Carmichael 2001, and MX Unleashed. I remember my two brothers, cousin and I would play tag on the free ride levels for RC 2001 game was so much fun, I like mini games like that for when I want a break from racing all the time. Even though a lot of people hated the other vehicles for the newer MVA games, I liked them, I just dont think THQ should have forced you to race the other vehicles to progress through "career" mode. Also Untamed had good outdoor tracks, I liked a lot of them just didnt like the physics the way people would jump like crazy and stupid crap like that.

For online racing and community as a whole, Motocross Madness 2 by far.

Even though I'm really enjoying Alive, I think in terms of "All time" - you have to go with MCM2. It is the Godfather of MX games.

Like a lot of people I wasted hours upon hours away into that game for so many years. When it was first released, the physics were truly revolutionary. MCM2 took the pre-load physic stuff to a new level. And then of course the track editor extended the life span of the game even further. There were so many talented people building replicas of famous tracks and personal creations... you were never short of stuff to download and play.

That's not to say it was perfect - the AI could be damn right hilarious at times with half 3/4 of the field all casing the same jump resulting in the same head first somersault lap after lap lol. But that was part of it's charm. When it all came together it was great. To be honest I never enjoyed the "Unleashed" series quite as much, I found it too floaty and slow. But I know most loved it.

Put Reflex in for a little while tonight cause I was getting bummed on Alive because sometimes the bike bites in the turns and other times it blows past the berm even on the brakes.

For the first couple mins I was stoked again on Reflex.........then I remembered how pissed I always used to get when I would try to take any line except the outside berm and spin out. Or any time someone got close to you both of you were going down yard sale style.

Alive is better. No doubt. There are things I don't like, but overall its a better package. And if you think Unleashed is the best I already went down that road when Reflex came out. Play unleashed again and remember the floaty hot air balloon physics.

We just need to get 3 or 4 good sx tracks for alive.
