Race 1, the combined MXGP and MX2 classes are off the line. The much-used team tactics is to place the MX2 (250F) rider on the inside of the gate, and the MXGP (450F) rider towards the outside. Team Italy took a different approach with Tony Cairoli on the 450 in between MX2 class riders.
