Hey guys I have a 2004 yz250 and am running stock sprockets right now and I want to change them to add more power and make it more touchy but not lose any top end either. Anyone got any recommendations? I’m riding on a lot of gravel and woods, not on a track.

Here's what you need to understand: you don't gain power by changing sprocket sizes. You will only change the gear ratio between your engine and the rear wheel.

Lower gearing = more acceleration, but less top speed.
Taller gearing = Less acceleration, but more top speed.

Add teeth to the rear or subtract a tooth from the front for lower gearing.
Do the opposite for taller gearing.

Nothing short of an XC bike can bridge that gap. A Big Bore and taller gearing could come close.
