2021 250 SX-sea level

bike was running well with the Mikuni, but I couldn’t leave well enough alone over the winter

bought a keihin carb, 7 slide.

started with 42 pilot NECJ 3rd clip 175 main.

way too lean, massive bog in corners, whacking the throttle…switched to NEDW w/40 pilot better but seemed rich.

went NECJ 4th clip, 42 pilot, bike runs pretty well, but I just feel it could run better, still seems slightly lean.

thinking about NEDW on the second clip how would that compare to NECJ fourth clip?

also, a few people have raving about the N8RG needle…any thoughts ?

thanks advance I don’t mind dicking with the carb, but swapping needles constantly gets a little old

Here's needle chart from manual. NEDJ-3 is half step richer than NECJ-3.

Does this chart include suggested mains/pilots to go with the needles?

I'm not sure how it would translate to the 250sx. OPs jetting is close to stock RM250 jetting (48 pilot 168 main). Likely would need to get jets above and below.

Try going up a size or two on the pilot before changing needles IMO.

Why would you go to a new needle before trying the 5th clip to see how it runs if you think it’s still lean?
