Hello all! I’m looking for some advice.
I’m interested in purchasing a 2010 YZ125 (I don’t race, this would be for leisure, trail riding, ect.) and it comes with a Harris Performance 144 kit. I don’t know much about these kits and but my understanding is that the bike will require more maintenance and more frequent rebuilds. My main concern is that parts for this bike wont be very accessible to find - I did try to contact HP with little luck. Has anyone had any experience with this type of kit? If so, what is your experience? Thank you!
P.S. asking price for the bike is $2,500

In my experience, Harris builds a great YZ144 for motocross. AND a 144cc ex- motocross race bike is not the ideal trail riding bike due to short/high power and quite frequent top-end intervals and likely a history of racing.
Parts should not be too much of an issue ... piston and gasket kits are readily available for that dia.
Might be worth looking at an older carb 250cc 2-stroke or even a four-stroke, IMHO.
If you want to dig deeper, keep trying to contact Dereck. Likely he was very busy, then taking a break after Loretta Lynn National.

For ease of maintenance/parts, I would wait for a 125. I built and ran a 144, not that big of a deal, went back to a 125 motor. Just as much fun.
