Ok, so KTM doesn't own the 'brand' but do they still have exclusive distributorship rights? I'm not seeing anything concrete about if there was a contract term including an expiration for that arrangement between John and KTM.

Hello
Thanks for the comments to my post.
I do not think KTM has any say in the PENTON motorcycle name or
distribution rights. But I am in favor of a new competitive PENTON.
I would even invest some money in seeing it happen.
So let's hope 2024 brings some good news about this.
Yeah, but I'm asking why you don't think that. I can't find anything about the distributorship rights being transferred to another entity or any details of an expiration of those rights. As far as I've been able to dig up, distributorship rights were obtained in 1978 and are still held by the KTM Group.
Could it ever happen? Sure, Royal Enfield came back to life, after all.
Would it have any connection to the old Penton besides the name? I doubt it.
No connection to the old ones and KTM would not have a say in it.
How do you figure KTM would have no say in it? They own the brand, don't they?
KTM does not own the PENTON name.
And I think alot of people would like to see a new dirt bike made by PENTON Motorcycles.
If it is a quality made bike, people will like it.

As a former Penton owner, I have the perfect answer for ya! Just get some graphics made and slap them on a KTM and you will have your new Penton!
