I mean it’s ok if you like vegas or visit north Utah/so cal a lot.
tbh, not a whole lot out there. It’s bliss if you off-road or overland a lot but other than that not much.
it’s clean, people are generally friendly like most of Utah, not sure what it’s like compared to the valley but housing has gone up due to retirees and the covid migration.
super over crowded year round, amazing dirt bike riding in the cooler months, hotter than balls in the warmer months, great golfing, and super over crowded
The road system is built for about a quarter of the population…they have soccer, baseball, softball, swimming, lacrosse, basketball, and any other type of tournament you can think every single weekend…so there is always about 10,000 extra people around…so take two hours to get into most restaurants on the weekends, just over crowded.
amazing riding and weather in the fall, winter and spring though…Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Lake Powell aren’t far away…about 4 hours from SoCal, about 4 hours from Salt Lake City…hour and a half to Vegas.
I looked into moving there around 2015. Saint George has the highest cancer rate in the state. It used to be the highest race in the country due to the nuclear fallout from all the testing in the Nevada desert in the 40’s and 50’s.

I would have assumed the highest cancer rate in the state because it also has the oldest population in the state? But it’s nuclear fall out?
My Mom lived there for 16 years and I concur with Peely's assessment. Awesome to visit, but I wouldn't live there year round even if you gave me the Huntsman house in The Entrada at Snow Canyon (which is where she lived the last 10 years she was there).
Thank you all very much
I used to live in Cedar City. Great place to live and ride. Great place to raise a family. I’m not a Mormon, but they’re good folks.
St George is full. Better find somewhere else.
Used to say this about Montana, no one listened and now it’s more expensive to live here then it is to live in California.
St George is a cool place to live. The riding is spectacular. The problem is that it’s become a vacation hot spot in recent years. The place is packed with tourists almost every weekend for one event or another. Red Bull Rampage, Ironman, St George Marathon, Senior Games, etc. Housing is expensive and good paying jobs are hard to find. And the local small town governments are corrupt AF.
the funny part is that it actually is full and growing every day.
we used to race the old StGeorge MX track up where the airport is now. seeing the growth down there is kind of sad, i mean i understand it's a popular place to live but holy shit it's just nuts. now when we go down to ride, we stay either in Hurricane or on the North end of Washington. downtown is nuts. Santa Clara is a neat little old town.
also i heard a rumor that Warner Valley area is going to be the next area to be developed. if true, incredibly sad. love the riding out there.
The MX track isn’t out there anymore? How about the drag strip?
there's a track south of there, drag strip and MX track are an airport now. if you remember the old MX track up by the strip then you'd shit if you saw it now. that track was rad back in the day. we used to do some rock-climbing on the big slab face at the top of the hill before getting to the track. good times.
That’s crazy. I remember the double double there. I was tripling in and singling out. Guy in front of me came out of the corner and quad’ed it. I said to myself, “Screw that he can win, I’m not doing that”!
Cedar City was one of the prettiest tracks I’d ever been to.
I used to live in the southeast part of St George. I could ride right out of my garage. Two blocks from my house was open desert. Now its all developed for miles around. I moved to Toquerville several years ago to get away from all the growth. Now the growth is overtaking Toquerville. Every time I go riding I find a new fence and no trespassing signs. Its fucked up.
The fight over Warner Valley has begun. ‘We will fight for it’: Off-road groups cram St. George meeting about proposed land swap
The SGMX track south of the new airport is gone. Closest track now is Mesquite.
when did that happen? i was just down there a few years ago for my nephew's state MTB race and it was still there?
Toquerville is rad, i like all the little off-shoots off the Twister and the bottom of the river is a good time too.
Pit Row
SGMX shut down a few years ago. It was on leased land and the land owner got paranoid about liability.
The age part might be part of why the rate dropped from highest in the country as people die off from around that were around back then. I got sucked into a worm hole when I started reading about it. You can Google Utah nuclear fallout and find a ton of articles and information about it. A quick search pulled up the government website that had a lot of info, but obviously leaves out the health effects from it.

Dang man, too bad Belgrade got overrun, that's an awesome area. I saw an article awhile back about how they expect the Bozeman Valley to be like Salt Lake City in the next 20 years. Wild.
At least you can ride year 'round in St. George.
Yeah that a definite positive, I’ll tell you they are well on their way. Between here and Big Sky there’s Billions of dollars being invested in this valley.
Well my family and I made it to Utah about 3 weeks ago, I just picked up a 23’ XC-F 450 so if anyone down here wants to ride I’m up for new moto buds!
Welcome! I think I can formally say that now that I've been here for months. Lol
Everyone else on this thread has been here much longer, but I can say that it is everything I'd hoped for when I mlved here. Not much moto, but plenty of off-road. I picked up a 450xc-w recently. Debating selling my MC450.
Going to break it in tomorrow in Warner Valley, message me if you’d like to come!
I should have mentioned, I am in SLC. I meant welcome to Utah in general. Hope you had a good ride!
You'll meet folks out there riding. Just watch out for the side by sides. Damn things are everywhere.
Noticed this yesterday, no issues with them except their trail etiquette is lacking! Haha
Fasst Company is located in Washington. Bunch of good dudes there that I’m sure wouldn’t mind showin you around.
