Hi all,

Commenced the build of my 2005 YZ125, which I’ve been collecting as many YoT parts as possible for, the goal being to build a Metcalfe replica. I was fortunate enough to actually meet Brett and see the bike on track at Lake Elsinore and also the Hangtown National - Brett didn't race the motos sadly.

The bike is a 2005 and I’ve actually owned it since 2010, the original owner had ridden it 3x! I've ridden it considerably more than that and sadly neglected it a bit over the years!

Here’s some of the trick parts I’ve got together so far, some of which is direct from Mettys bike - so I'm told:

The front fender is an '06 polisport one, but does have the ever so cool aero scoops - hoping to fit them to the '05 fender.

Suspension will be going to Cera-mx for all the coatings: Kashima upper and gold ti-nitrade lowers on the forks, along with a refresh on the rear shock - (I'll do another post with a suspension question below).

If you have any photos of the bike outside of the thread another member has of the actual bike/ MXA test/ normal google search, that would be helpful! Just so I can see how the bike differed round to round.

Suspension question:

I have KYB SSS suspension, along with the original. The rear shock will be fine, but the issue I'm faced with is the front brake. I have a nice factory carrier with a ti pin, that is for the '05 fork and I'm a bit undecided on going SSS and getting a newer caliper (06+ YZF right?) or running the '05 stuff.

Any opinions welcome!

Cheers

The sprocket you have is 2008 team-issue-only Sunstar. Metty's bike would have had blue or raw Renthal.

Nice, those air ducts for the front fender are badass.. have you tried lightspeed for the clutch cover guard. I know he had a few left a while back.. you might get lucky and score one..

Sure are!

Good idea, but every pic I have they're just running the stock cover. I guess, a carbon ignition cover is hardly deviating away from making it a replica. Maybe I'll reach out to them!

Cheers
