not alot out there on how to do it yourself.... not interested in the tech touch kit, or lucky, or any of them.... i know the aer48 lugs can be used if machined to accept the sss rebound adjuster and will stick out some... but my question, is it that simple? just machine the lugs to accept the rebound adjuster or is there more to it? i seen a few threads that talk about using a Kawasaki bottoming cone? would be nice to see a detailed how to of how to convert them without getting billet lugs

There is way more to it AFAIK. Look at it this way, if you were a suspension tech, would you be willing to give out a DIY solution for something that cost you your time, money, R&D, tooling and some thought to sort out and make it work properly?

i understand this 100%... but in this time and age alot more people are willing to diy and there are alot of great resources for it online....for example you have had a few sets for sale that used the stock aer48 lug for the conversion... from what i can gather it seems like there is a special bottoming cone needed which can be sourced thru kyb, and maybe a spacer that needs to be machined as the wp lower leg is a different length... heck i would pay someone to give me the info i need to do it myself... or maybe they can offer a how to for a fee? there are several websites like that where you pay a fee to get design plans with what all is needed and where to source it from..

Might be worthwhile to ask a couple of reputable suspension shops for a DIY on this. Quite possibly there will be someone willing to share the details.

I dealt with "The Ride Shop" out of Arizona. Super nice guy to work with. He sold me the bottoming cones for the AER forks and he even told me which cartridges to use. But even with that I had to do a bit of research myself and compared rod lengths and such.

thanks for the info, i found a set of bottoming cones from a guy out of Colorado i believe he said $250.00 shipped and would have to machine the lugs out 5mm and use the sss from 12 up models as they had the shorter dampener rods

Luxonmx is in the process of making billet lugs that will work with kyb internals.

I heard that you can use bottoming cones from pre 2014 closed cart wp forks, in the aer lugs, then you’d just need to machine the kyb rebound adjusters to fit, and use the wp bottom cone ring that goes on the bottom of the cart, just like people do for the SSS swap into wp CC forks, I did a write up on it on ktm talk, I think it was. i was gonna do a AER to sss swap, and that’s what my research turned up, but I have since got my aer’s working pretty well. Let us know what you find though, I’m still gonna do the swap some day, for funsies
