Suspension (shock) shim question

It's more of a generic question. Showa shock with gold valve installed, overall it's a little too lively on the rebound. Compression stack feels right. Rebound needs some love. It's right at the limit on the adjuster. If I go one click more dampening it's too harsh.

So should I go with a larger clamping shim or add one more face shim to start with? I don't have my stack info with me. More of a generic question.

I would think a larger clamping shim or an extra face shim would help. I believe the extra face shim would be a more dramatic difference, but I hope some actual builders chime in on this. Either way post up what you do, Id love to hear the results.

I would go with one or two additional face shims.

I have used Race Tech since the late 90's and I have always felt and confirmed through video that rebound settings seem to be on the light side. I have called and talked to them and their reasoning is they like to allow the wheel to stay in contact with with the ground as much as possible. I usually run the valving selection program they offer online and the compression is always very close, but I end up about 4 to 5 valve stacks "stiffer" but i tend to like just a slight dead feeling in my rear so it is also rider preference.
