Bought the bike last week, have one ride on it. When it is cold it starts very easy, one or two kicks even in flipflops. I rode 15 minutes of easy trails, killed the bike and it started right up. Rode another 40 minutes, killed the bike and it would not kick start or bump start down 2 good sized hills, the motor turned over maybe 10-15 times and just would not start. The bike sat for 30ish minutes and then kick started in about 5 or 6 kicks.

Does anyone have similar experience to this?
Going to test the coil this week. Have also seen online others saying to check/ change rhe coolant temp sensor

Why would the valves only be an issue when the bike is hot? I've had my crf450 for 10 years and always adjusted the valves myself. It was never made a difference on that bike if it was hot or cold.

If the valves are tight it will be hard to start when hot due to thermal expansion. But bump starting typically allows it to start in this condition.

Thats the reason i said coolant temp sensor. Have dealt with this exact issue on my own kx450. Sensor is in a horrible spot on the cylinder and gets beat to death.
