1998 RM250

So I’m working on a 1998 RM250, lost the bottom end found another motor to swap guy didn’t know anything about it. Just redid the cylinder come to find out the guy put a 2001 RM cylinder on it. Everything bolted right up engine wise, my dilemma I’m now facing is the pipe. The 98 cylinder has a slant where the pipe meets and the 2001 cylinder is flat, will a 2001 pipe fit on my 98 frame?? I can’t find anything on how the frame changed on the front besides the rake.... need some help/advise before I go cut and weld my 98 pipe and change the pitch of the pipe that meets the cylinder. Thanks for the help/advise in advance.

I cannot help you here , but dude I feel your pain. These parts are so freaking hard to find, and it seems like we take one step forward and two steps back every time we buy a mix match part.

I don't have access to the Suzuki parts supersession anymore, but by looking at the photos, both pipes seem to mount up in the same manner. Knowing how manufacturers work, and Suzuki in particular, It's likely the pipe changed but the mounting locations did not. I'd say you have better odds of this matchup working than you do playing roulette. (Better than 50/50, that is to say.)

Thanks guys for the reply and I definitely keep taking 2 steps forward 10 steps back, I’m ordering a 2001 pipe in hopes it fits before I go and cut and weld the pipe.

I have a stock pipe for an 01 RM250 id sell real cheap if you don't want to spend alot trying to see if it work or not. I am in Michigan though.
