The 80's were my favorite era in MX and I love everything about it including the riders, bikes, and gear.
After many years away from the sport (I retired in 97) last year finally decided to start racing again in the vintage class since I already had a vintage bike which was sitting in my garage collecting dust.
For my comeback, I really wanted to get decent looking gear to match my bike and decided to buy the Troy Lee GP series gear + the 86 Pre Mix which I thought had a cool vintage look. In addition I decided to get a vintage helmet since I think modern helmets do not match the style of the vintage bikes, but could not find anything I liked, so I painted one for myself. Since many riders were asking me where I got my helmet, I decided to dedicate part of my free time bringing these forgotten helmets back to life so riders around the globe would have more options in case they wanted a cool looking vintage helmet.
Please note I am not suggesting anyone should use a vintage helmet to go riding (although I race with all my helmets) since I do understand the risks involved, but I must confess the feeling a using an open faced helmet while revving a 2 stroke in a track is priceless.
If anyone likes the old school helmets and would like to take a peek of the type of helmets I have, please feel free to visit my Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/2tlegends/)
I hope everyone has a great week!
