He was a gift thrown in on a horse deal for me from one of my girlfriends customers, they liked me better than her. Anyway I have no horse riding skills, she was a world Champion Equestrian rider. She was also very mean to horses, I've seen her punch one like in blazing saddles. I was more of a stall mucker, 20 stalls 2 times a day! Anyway when we first got him she gets on hook with her little whip, he wouldn't do shit for her. I get on him and she intermediately starts telling me to sit up straight and all this crap, I'm moto so i'm liked hunched over elbows up. I barely dig my heels in his side and he takes off like bat out of hell, she gets all pissed off and tells me she wouldn't train me if I wouldn't do what she said. He was supposed to have a bad leg, I nurse him back to health and he turns out to be an awesome horse, very gentle with kids, just big. I never got any papers or anything and when we broke up she took him Sad I had enough witnesses, including the lady who gave him to me, but i had no where to keep him and just said screw it. Oh ya it was my second time riding, she puts me on him with a equestrian saddle, little ropes for the foot things and no roping thing on the saddle to hold on to! When he took off I was bouncing around like a fool, though i was going to die. Oh well.

That sux Crash, but if you didnt have facilities the horse was better off I guess.

You dont hafta beat horses to get them to perform, not even close. People who think you 'break' a horse are idiots. Yes you can beat a horse enough to where you indeed do 'break' his spirit but the animal will never perform close to its ability. The main problem with equine and humans is the communication gap. They simply dont understand what you want from them, they get confused, then pissed. (which if you think about it, makes sense) Once a person (decent trainer) works with them to show them what you want them to do, in a way THEY understand, the little light bulb goes off in their head and they do it no problem. Yeah some of 'em are lazy, just like people. But the main problem is they simply have no clue what is being asked of them, and most riders are morons and beat the shit out of them which is the absolute worst thing you can do.

Im sure a runaway horse on an English or dressage saddle would suck bigtime. Ive only been on one runaway, and its no fun even with a decent western saddle.

x2! My sister had a horse. I had to fight it to get it to go in a direction other than straight back to the barn. It would go as fast as you wanted to go in the barn direction though.

He wasn't a run away , I made him take off and no one told me where the brakes were, this chick had amazing skills I watched her break horses that no one else could, but her temper was off the charts. Every horse in that stable loved me, there was one mare that she said was evil and to let her out before i cleaned her stall. I spent a lot of hours talking to them horses and that mean one loved me more than anyone, i could do her stall with her in it. Man I had goats, donkeys, ducks geese, barn cat, farm dog a rabbit all the customers loved them some Crash. She would go out of town and leave me in charge of the place, she was using the crap out of me but i didn't care, i had an awesome time. To be honest i was more upset over not being able to hang out with the horses any more than missing her. I think It's time to go visit my horse?

No offense Crash, but like I wrote above, if she had a temper and 'breaks' a horse - that is an idiot in my book Anyone with enough determination can beat a horse into submission. A talented and patient TRAINER will communicate with the animal in ways they understand so they can give you what you ask for.

Sounds like to me you are more fit to train horses than your Ex.

I agree, her skills were riding, she did stunts for movies and stuff. I would freak out because sometimes she broke these horses bareback with no helmet in that little round pen, the horse would try to throw her and she would laugh an almost insane laugh. She would wear these little booty shorts and ride sometimes, she is 39 now and has lost some of her looks, she never deserved to be pretty damn it. I never agreed with her methods and lost respect for her over it. I don't have patience for training, animals know i'm a push over. I'm going to drop in after 7 years this weekend and see if Hook is still there, maybe get a picture of him.

I have another friend that does that, those chicks have mad skills. i can't even think of what it would be like to ride like that. My ex girlfriend hated rodeo, she was equestrian (english riding?) all the way. Never understood that, I figured if you like horses you like horses, asked her to go to the rodeo and she laughed like she was better than that. have ya'll tried roping? I hooked up with this other girl and we were going to team up, I stunk so bad a i gave it up, I could do so so on the ground, but trying to ride and throw a lasso was hell. Bull riding was my other thing, i was going to be a champ until I tried it, then i saw this kid at the high school rodeo get dragged around for like 10 mins no lie, finally people came out of the crowd to get his hand loose, his legs were all under the bull, just flopping and flipping, then dude just walks off didn't get hurt.

Hope you can make it, its fun to watch them girls put in a good run.

I told Felicia they need to let me put my gear on and run 'round them barrels on my RM250 as a joke/exhibition thing. That would be mega fun roosting like a mofo in that arena sand and a huge rooster tail out the back.

BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP !

That was this boys first project and he did a great job in the show. The best part is he is the kind of kid who is really motivated to work with his animal, unlike lots of kids who's parents do most of the work all year and the kid shows up at the Fair and shows it like they did something. This little fella is a hard worker and always has a huge smile.
