The thread about Cindy Mccain got me thinking. I am sure I'll catch hell for this. But, I normally do for a lot of the shit I say. I noticed that most of the people on here are saying that rich people should still pay 30% instead of 3 or 4%. If someone makes 5 million a year, and pays 4%, they just paid in more then most of us will pay in several years. Those same people are also going to be putting much more money back into the economy then me or you. Paying more sales tax, bigger property taxes, etc. But, then again I guess it just goes back to the ever growing popular theme in america, work less and the government will just take money from someone successful and give it to the slackers. Karl Marx sure would be proud of where this country is headed.

Yeah! Why even have them pay taxes at all? It's like protection money. As long as we let them have and keep all of their money, they will let us have jobs! Good idea.

No Spin Zone, why would you make that shit up about Cindy McCain only paying 3% or 4% in taxes? She paid 1.1 million in taxes last year and 1.7 million in 2007.

They obviously made a mistake and then fixed it without notating it. I copied the article in its entirety.

That is pretty bad that they didn't put an "updated" note in the date/time section.

Cindy McCain made over $2million in estimated tax payments against her 2007 taxes. When the return was filed, she only owed $1.1 million. She got the difference back as a refund (on the interest free loan she made to the USA.)

Any more questions?

Not to belabor the point, but that's still 26%, which puts her even with me (25%).

Is that a problem? Even though I don't make nearly what she does I think the "percentage" should be the same for everyone.

I support a progressive tax for personal taxes. I do. The wealthy can afford to pay a couple percent more. Milk doesn't cost more for them. Nor does gasoline. Their cost of living isn't different from ours, unless they buy a huge house or whatever, which is their right. But at the end of the year, a family making $50,000 will have no money left after paying for food and everything else that life requires. It's better for the economy, and for most people, if the tax burden is lifted off of the middle class, and if that means the rich have to pay a couple extra percent, that doesn't bother me at all, and it wouldn't even if I was one who would have to pay more. They have it. I'd prefer if the government wouldn't spend money like it does, but they do. So, working in the realm of reality, I think they should foot a bigger portion of the bill because they can. The debt has to be paid down somehow.

I think tax code is waaaaay too complex and needs to be simlified. Heck, that would reduce a lot of cost right there. Of course that would also leave a lot of IRS agents and CPAs without a job.

I don't know how to make it simpler without screwing someone. The "Fair Tax" screws the middle class and the poor, and the "flat tax" screws the middle class and the rich. Whatever they do, they need to relieve the middle class. When the middle class has money to spend, save, etc., the economy is healthy. The fewer people control the more money, the worse the economy gets.

I just wish they would take Joe Plumber's money and give it to me so I can get one of those big houses I can't afford. Prices are coming down on them now that the market is flooded, yes!!

So, why do we even have money? Why don't we just let the government make all our decisions for us.

NSZ, for the last few days you have been dribbling about taxes and how much the rich dont pay not knowing a damn thing the socalled rich do for the economy. But today its really nerving because today I had to write a check for my quarterly taxes. I had to write a check for a little less then 8k. When the hell is enough enough? How much did you pay last year in taxes? How many people do you employ? How many people rely on your company making money and keeping it?

I have 13 employees, 11 are married with at least 2 kids, thats about 25 people plus my own family all depending on my company making and keeping money. I spend a large amount at 2 different material yards every month that employ quite a few people and pay taxes. That material yard buys from factorys who in turn employs people and pays taxes. I am willing to bet that people like me, who BO want to tax more, do more for the economy then the extra 1500 that the middle class will get by taking from the socalled rich.

Do you get now how the rich make the economy work? I really dont think you get it. Just because you know how to use Google or some other search engine doesnt make you an accountant, especially when half the stuff you write is dribble. Try writting from expierience like some others in here seem to. I am not trying to be a dick, but damn man enough is enough.

It would be better, like I said, if the government wouldn't spend so much, and then this wouldn't be an issue. But they do, and if you want to kill the economy, lean on the middle class to pay all of the bills. Look around.

Right. You want protection money. You want to pay less with a threat of employing fewer people if you pay more. Again, it would be better if the government wouldn't have us in a war we shouldn't be in, and if they wouldn't bail out private companies with tax money, and pay farmers for not farming to keep prices up for other farmers (or whatever the reasoning is), and spend $20 billion on a ridiculous "Osprey" airplane that doesn't work, etc. But I live in the real world where the government does do this, and if the middle class has no purchasing power, the economy fails. You can't deny this as true. So if someone has to pay more than someone else, it has to be the rich, because they can.

I just love one of the guys that works for me. He refuses to work any overtime and usually does anything he can to fall short of 40hrs. But at the end of the year, come tax time he always gets back $5500.00-$5700.00. Gotta love those earned income/head of household credits while his girlfriend/babymomma pillhead commonlaw whatever the hell she is out getting arrested with her mother trying to pass off fraudulent prescriptions at every pharmacy in the neighborhood. Yessiree, all you fuckers that do the right thing and strive to get ahead and refuse to accept handouts and unemployment better get your ass up in the morning and get to work. Lots of lazy bastards out there are depending on you.

I just had one quit her part time position to go look for a full time job. That's what she typed in on her unemployment application. Guess she couldn't go look on her two days off during the week! And she's the one that requested to go from full to part time in the first place. They denied her, so she appealed. I had everything ready yesterday for my phone in persecution. She didn't bother to call in. I'm guessing she forgot the appeal date and time, she couldn't remember shit from one day to the other anyway.

The tax/economy thing is a non-issue. It's all the same pie as long as total tax income remains the same. (More tax income either means more government spending/more jobs or balanced budget, and the value of a dollar goes up) The scare tactic of companies laying off employees because a tax increase is laughable at best. You need to realize, that 95% of americans will have more money to spend at the end of the year. That means an increase in sales..which means those jobs stay put...It's all a bunch of crap unless you make more than $600,000...you will lose that 8-11% extra. Here's another hint...most people that make that much, have huge amounts in deductibles, and don't pay as much as you think.

I hate arguing about politics because it's like arguing with a woman...it's all emotion and the people get too tied up in their party to have any sort of comprehension.

We already have a progressive tax.

Oh. Wait. I forgot.

You don't know how a tax table works.

You, who are attempting to enlighten everyone about the tax system

.You, that does not realize that your paycheck is signed by some rich guy.

Some rich guy (or company) that will have less room on the payroll for the poor unwashed you care so much about.

The best point McCain made the other night was that the U.S. corporate tax rate is ALREADY the second highest in the world. Who has the most vibrant new technology economy in the world? Oh. That would be Ireland. Google, Microsoft, Cisco, (ring a bell?), Oracle, have all shipped a ton of jobs over there. Why? The corporate tax rate is 11%. Gee. I wonder what the effect of adding another 4.6% to the U.S. rate will be?

I know we already have a progressive tax. That's my point. I don't know why you have to be such a pompous jerk about everything. And like I said, if they want to sell in the US, they should have to pay a tariff if they don't produce the products 100% in the US. It's that simple. Why don't you go tell me again what 4.5% of a billion dollars is?

Me? Pompous jerk? That's some funny chit right there.

You're the one that tried to sell 4.5% of 100,000,000 as 45 million. You're the one that claimed that the current corporate tax rate was 39%.

I'd say that the very definition of pompous is someone blowing as hard as they can to expose their own incompetency.

That, would be you.

Again, how old are you? You sound about 16-20. All mouth. No brains.
