I keep hearing that we are screwing our self’s and the next generation with all this national dept and how the interest alone will be the end all. But they were saying the same thing before Clinton created a surplus.

The nation never paid off its debt during the Clinton admin. We just had an operating budget surplus for a few years.

The question remains what does the national debt mean, and at what point is it meaningful?

Percentage of GDP is one good way to look at it.

Dubya doubled the national debt in 8 years from $5.3 trillion to $10.7 trillion.

Obama has raised it by 10%.

Why didn't we ever hear any shrill cries from the righties when Dubya was spending us into this hole?

Plus Dubya pissed that money away in a sand box.

At least Obama is directing his spending to US.

We did. Tons of times. Question really is why the majority of those people aren't singing the same tune now.

That's funny.

The national debt clock at this very moment is at $11.7 trillion - approximately 10% higher than it was the day Dubya slithered back to texas.

Keep making up shit if it makes you feel better.
