“white people showing up with guns strapped to their hips”
btw it’s nice to see JJ back on the air ....
The Black guy, who goes by the single name "Toure" is really their personality/entertainment/trendy reporter guy, and not a news guy, so his involvement was a bit out of place.
Contessa Brewer (who I think is super cute) is actually pretty conservative (you can tell during loose spots and she speaks off prompter), but that gun thing near the POTUS kind of pissed her off.
Now she didn't say it was a “white people showing up with guns strapped to their hips” problem, but she said that others are worried and talking about “white people showing up with guns strapped to their hips”...she was reporting what others were saying
And it's undeniable that there is a concern there and it is an odd occurrence that never before (as far as I can remember), people are now showing up at a POTUS event and/or within the area of the POTUS with firearms.
the end of the day.. It’s not going to advance gun ownership rights … and will be used against them if at all possible imho
fyi .. I’m in favor of gun ownership by law abiding citizens .. just to be clear
IMO, people have no business being anywhere around the POTUS, his motorcade, route or within a certain perimeter of them.
I agree it's attention whore bullshit, but it is not hard to make that tie between racial lines on this, because when Clinton was POTUS, and he DID PASS A GUN BAN (Assault weapons ban) AND the Brady Bill, no one ever showed up at any of his events (that I'm aware of) with a rifle on their back or a gun on their hip.
Now that we have a Black POTUS, with massive propaganda, accusations and lies surrounding him (Not a citizen, really a Muslim, etc....) and it is fact that the number of threats upon this POTUS is the highest ever and most of which is racially motivated (been many articles regarding this) it's not a stretch to associate the sudden arrival of "white guys with guns" at anything involving the POTUS as possibly having racial motivations.
BTW, I said in another thread, it's pretty damn smart of this administration and the Secret Service to ignore these assholes because if they did or said anything, Rush, Hannity, Beck and Co. would all use it as "proof" that Obama is this that or the other...it's a lose-lose....so, ignore 'em and don't give the spin masters any ammo. It's as if they WANT to be hassled, so they can accuse the Administration of being anti-gun, anti-speech, anti-expression, anti-you-name-it

It's also detrimental to the debate on all the various political issues. I can't help but believe the intent is to intimidate the opposition. Having the guns in view just heightens the emotional intensity. It seems to me that something bad/dumb is going to happen real soon.
POTUS has some stones though!!!! not sure i would have stood up there with that going on.
white guy around black president with gun..oh no he's a racist.
So yeah, i said it...people are already assuming he's a racist and will attack Obama.
I see how the media works.
I feel the primary reason it’s being done now vs before … is because once the person did it a couple of weeks and got tons of press coverage … and now they all what to get there 15 minutes of fame
Just as this years election showed HUGE numbers of voters actually come out and vote.
Media has also gotten much more powerful how it reaches people these days, and how fast information gets to the public.
When times are good, people let a lot of stuff go unnoticed. When times are bad, everything seems to get put under a microscope.
