I was watching that morning, and mind my went "oh shit" during that discussion.

The Black guy, who goes by the single name "Toure" is really their personality/entertainment/trendy reporter guy, and not a news guy, so his involvement was a bit out of place.

Contessa Brewer (who I think is super cute) is actually pretty conservative (you can tell during loose spots and she speaks off prompter), but that gun thing near the POTUS kind of pissed her off.

Now she didn't say it was a “white people showing up with guns strapped to their hips” problem, but she said that others are worried and talking about “white people showing up with guns strapped to their hips”...she was reporting what others were saying

And it's undeniable that there is a concern there and it is an odd occurrence that never before (as far as I can remember), people are now showing up at a POTUS event and/or within the area of the POTUS with firearms.

I think the phenomenon is in part .. that the media made a big deal (understandably) out of the guy a couple of weeks ago that did it … and now they all want to be a attention whores /copycats … look at me I’m a badass ..

the end of the day.. It’s not going to advance gun ownership rights … and will be used against them if at all possible imho

fyi .. I’m in favor of gun ownership by law abiding citizens .. just to be clear

I have no problem with responsible gun ownership, but this ain't it IMO

IMO, people have no business being anywhere around the POTUS, his motorcade, route or within a certain perimeter of them.

I agree it's attention whore bullshit, but it is not hard to make that tie between racial lines on this, because when Clinton was POTUS, and he DID PASS A GUN BAN (Assault weapons ban) AND the Brady Bill, no one ever showed up at any of his events (that I'm aware of) with a rifle on their back or a gun on their hip.

Now that we have a Black POTUS, with massive propaganda, accusations and lies surrounding him (Not a citizen, really a Muslim, etc....) and it is fact that the number of threats upon this POTUS is the highest ever and most of which is racially motivated (been many articles regarding this) it's not a stretch to associate the sudden arrival of "white guys with guns" at anything involving the POTUS as possibly having racial motivations.

BTW, I said in another thread, it's pretty damn smart of this administration and the Secret Service to ignore these assholes because if they did or said anything, Rush, Hannity, Beck and Co. would all use it as "proof" that Obama is this that or the other...it's a lose-lose....so, ignore 'em and don't give the spin masters any ammo. It's as if they WANT to be hassled, so they can accuse the Administration of being anti-gun, anti-speech, anti-expression, anti-you-name-it

I'm all for legal/law abiding gun ownership and I agree totally that this is attention whore BS that is also detrimental to gun rights.

It's also detrimental to the debate on all the various political issues. I can't help but believe the intent is to intimidate the opposition. Having the guns in view just heightens the emotional intensity. It seems to me that something bad/dumb is going to happen real soon.

I am for gun ownership, and I fail to see how these guys were helping the cause in the least. If anything they are giving the liberals ammunition.

POTUS has some stones though!!!! not sure i would have stood up there with that going on.

A person that carries a gun has a right to do so legally. Anyone who assumes because he is near the POTUS with his gun and some danger or harm that comes from it has other issues they need to worry about.

white guy around black president with gun..oh no he's a racist.

So yeah, i said it...people are already assuming he's a racist and will attack Obama.

I see how the media works.

I’m not going to fall into the race trap ..

I feel the primary reason it’s being done now vs before … is because once the person did it a couple of weeks and got tons of press coverage … and now they all what to get there 15 minutes of fame

People just were not as active in politics as they are now.

Just as this years election showed HUGE numbers of voters actually come out and vote.

Media has also gotten much more powerful how it reaches people these days, and how fast information gets to the public.

When times are good, people let a lot of stuff go unnoticed. When times are bad, everything seems to get put under a microscope.

Contessa IS hot as hell, but come on. The guy holding the gun AS they say the comment about angry white people...is a black guy!!! They cut his head off from the video so it wouldnt hurt the point they were trying to make. How many other people get on the news without a head? Just really fat people when they are doing an "America is somehow even fatter today" story.

Racism is a powerful tool for the entitled on both sides of the debate. But entitlement is certainly a doubled edged sword to the psyche of those who decide to embrace it.

Question. Have you ever seen people openly bring guns to an event where the President of the United State would be attending? I'm just asking.

So why do you think these people all of a sudden started openly carring guns to these events?

Here is the problem that I have with your viewpoint. You seem to not want to address the idea that at least some of these people MAY be racist. It is entirely possible that some of them are IMO. All of them, probably not, but I don't know how you can dismiss that race may play a part in their actions.

People didn't like Bush or Clinton's policies either, but I never saw anyone carrying a firearm to one of their events

So you believe that the media reported guns at BO's events and not at Bush's?
