I got a flyer in the mail for a local kung fu joint. 30 days for free, so I took the boys over to check it out. The kids loved it. They gave them karate costumes and taught them some stances and some punches. Than came the bad part, $100/kid/month for 6 months. 2 classes a week, the wife and I can take lessons for "free". I think we are just going to let them do the 30 days for free. $200 a month is a lot of jing.

I have no interest in calling some 16 year old girl instructor maam or bowing to a mat. It probably wouldn't hurt the boys, they had them taking orders and being very respectful. Soon as we got outside though they were back to their old selves.

Just get them a copy of "The Karate Kid", and call it good.

My kid Tae Kwon Do from 6 years old til 18, money well spent. They learn discipline, get lots of flexibility exercise and learn how to take a shot or two and handle it while fighting.

Mine did it for a couple years. It was great.

One of the big downfalls... 2 days a week and no break. He wished there was an "offseason" like baseball. He just got burned out....

Mine did that also. We made him a deal f he would stick it out for the long haul, he could have the summer off, just take it back up when school resumed.

that's a good plan.

I did it for several years starting at 18.

A really good school is worth money. $100 is a little on the steep side compared to our local schools.

I think I paid around $60.00 per month, but if I paid 6 months at a time, I got a discount.
