So, I've been using Firefox for a while now, and it performs much better than EI for me.

One question I have though is, why is it when you click on a link from say...here, and you X out of the link, it shuts down the browser altogether instead of going back to the original page?

Is it something I'm doing, or is that just the way it is?

Someone tossed the anchor out on Firefox recently. It used to be much faster. Chrome is ok, but I cant block ads with it. The add-ons are what make firefox so cool.

check and see if you have multiple tabs when you click on another link. then you just close out that tab.

Firefox works fine for me, and fast too (as long as you block all the external JavaScript).

Just close out the tab at the top of the screen.

It shouldn't close your browser when you click the "back" button. It certainly doesn't for me (but I'm running it on Linux and probably a different version (3.5)).

It doesn't offer a "back" button when you link to another site. It does show an added "Tab" that you can close, and it goes back to the original site.

Oh, you are talking about when something opens in a new tab. In older versions of IE and other non-tabbed browsers that would have opened a new window. You can actually configure firefox to do that too (open a new window rather than opening in a new tab) if you wish. Tabs are much better once you get used to using them though. The back button would work on links that do not open in a new target just like the old style buttons but even on those I like to force them to open in a new tab by clicking the "middle" mouse button on the link rather than the left mouse button.
